The Journey is on Pause...

Postby Xnapsteruser » Wed Jun 13, 2007 3:38 pm

... for whatever the reasons, I hope they can breath new life into what they do.

For some fans it may be over, personally I'm not one of those fans.
I do understand the fan that just says... I give up... for me I know my life and the changes I've lived and the things I've walked away from or the folks that I had to fire or take a break from... not everyone is made to live with me... ha ha!!

I'm not going to give up on Journey as a band over this. They still have 4 of the worlds most talented musicians in place... sure time is passing... so things need to happen with these guys sooner than later!

Disappointed... sure I'm disappointed. I was curious to see how they were going to mesh in the studio and now we'll never get to see that new Journey album with Jeff Scott Soto as the front man. But hey... the way it now looks ... they could do that show like INXS did a few years back! Now that would be interesting and breath new life into things... ha ha!

Journey as with some bands (We all know the names of those other bands... they are what makes following rock and roll Interesting!!) ... things just are in a constant flux... and Journey by far and away is always on the move and trying new things, sure they piss fans and others off along the way with some changes and decisions... but hey that is life. It's been that way since the beginning. Journey isn't your flash in the pan group... they are a band with staying power as a summer concert touring band and the music lives on and on with the Radio, TV Shows, Movies and many of us keep it in rotation on our car cd players and home stereo systems. Journey has been able to really put people in the seats for concerts despite the lineup changes.

Sure many of us hoped for a new vision with JSS at the front spot. Lord knows he is an incredible talent.
As for a perfect fit for the band... obviously something didn't fit. For whatever reason JSS isn't in the band today.
I'm very bummed at it not going further with JSS... but hey as a person who is a fan of Journey and now also a fan of JSS... I'm looking into the future and I hope that both parties can come up with something good that is going to blow our socks off.

Hey Jeff... maybe a REDLIST squeeze in to tag along with the summer tour with Linkin Park they have a bunch of bands doing http://www.projektrevolution.com/index.html I think that would rock!!

With that said as we all know here at Melodic Rock... Jeff is a class act and he sure pulled the Journey guys out of a major jam with the Def Leppard tour. The guy is a PRO and he has earned me as a fan for life. This guy can rock and he should be the lead singer of a band at the top... God would I love to see him lead for Queen or just break out and blow up the scene with Redlist or some other project!!

As for Journey as with any business they have quickly moved on and the site for Backtalk is currently down... some here at Melodic Rock hate the site... but it is what it is and it has a purpose as do the forums at many other popular bands sites. Even Linkin Park has forums for fans to express themselves in a moderated fashion. Andrew's site here at Melodic Rock is a great place for fans who want to freely express themselves from the outside looking in and there are other public non-band owned sites that aren't the living brochure of the band and it's business. So thanks to Andrew for having these forums and putting up with many of the folks that find the bands site to washed down. ha ha!

As many have expressed thoughts in other threads about the quick removal of JSS... damn that was a quick exit from the front man/saviour to completely out of the picture (In more ways than one!!).

I for one have hope for the guys who are Journey... and also Jeff Scott Soto, Steve Augeri and Steve Perry to all find the greatest sucess in the future. As with all the guys who have been with the band over the years that have come and gone onto other projects and careers... life goes on and it truly is an interesting Journey... and along the way we can only hope that we as individuals and groups have helped to make the place better and that we leave more friends than enemies in our past.

As with any pause in Journey the mind always wanders back to the Great Steve Perry... what if...

I'll complete my post and just say...

ROCK ON JEFF SCOTT SOTO and ROCK ON JOURNEY! Here's to the future...

4 that WERE talented. Now has beens.

Oh yeah keep dreaming! la la la la la SHIT u are delusional.

Uh-huh. U heard new Journey music on radio, tv shows, movies, um exactly when? Dude it's all Perry stuff. The 80s ended quite a while ago. I'm so sorry no one told u! :-)

As many have expressed thoughts in other threads about the quick removal of JSS... damn that was a quick exit from the front man/saviour to completely out of the picture (In more ways than one!!).

Stew on it a bit longer, ok? Just think. I know it hurts ur brain. But try it. :-)

life goes on and it truly is an interesting Journey

U mean ur still interested? Wow. What does it take to make u uninterested? Is ur life really THAT boring? :-)

As with any pause in Journey the mind always wanders back to the Great Steve Perry... what if...

What if, is right. What will never be is more like it tho. Keep wondering & living in the 80s. Times were good then. :-) What are u smoking? Can I please have some?

Here's to the future...

Hey man. What's ur future? What decade are we talking? Oh Jeff's future. Yeah, I'll drink to that.

It's tough to know why...

Postby Xnapsteruser » Wed Jun 13, 2007 4:14 pm

... and Journey has the history of moving on and starting quickly with a new direction. Especially in recent years.
I have a feeling that Jeff will express his thoughts and feelings about the past year to us.
He sure has gained a lot of fans with his Journey performances of 2006 and 2007!

With another fan jolt change of lead singer... when many were looking forward to seeing JSS and the guys mesh and put together something as Journey 2007-08... it's yet another tough blow for the band. I know they have the drive and the talent ... the question is what is the direction going to be.
New Sound or the "Classic" Journey sound from the Greatest Hits? Only time will tell.

I've liked the music from the Steve Augeri Era Journey.
It didn't mainstream like the Steve Perry Era Journey which everyone just loved and is still being used daily on radio, TV and movies. The stuff from that era has been touched by magic and it truly is timeless and has trancended the generations of fans.

Character?
Without being on the inside sitting at the table and holding the cards of the business of Journey. I can't speculate or even fathom the decisions and the sheer volume of ideas and directions that they have to narrow down to keep the whole thing they do onstage going. From the outside it does look a bit confusing...

Here is something that happened to me today... I'm a fan of Office Depot. It's close to home and they have what I need when I need it. A few months ago some guy in management somewhere within the organization had the idea to redo the entire Office Depot store layout to the current configuration. I hate the new store design and miss the old one... but I still purchased a new Brother All In One printer there today. And as with the last 10 times since the remodel... I complained about the bumpy countertop which I had to sign my card reciept on ... to the person who was the cashier. The store remains the way THEY(Mgmt) like it... the counter is still bumpy and makes my sig look wiggly... and I keep going back for more! ha ha!! One thing I did notice as I tried to put myself in the mgmt shoes... is that the shelves that previously were in the store didn't give the people in the front a clear vision of the customers. A customer could be behind a row and the help wouldn't know. With the current config... you can see every customer in the store and the staff knows where to go to help someone out. As for the bumpy counters... I think some clueless facility guy (which is often the case with most corporations... they always hire the designer without a clue!) that didn't think through the bumpy textured counters... they need to find counter covers and fire that guy!! The bottom line with this ... as a customer I have some very small say in things... some guy who has vested interest in making things goes calls the shots. Sometimes the work and like CompUSA... sometimes they don't. Bwahahaha... CompUSA imploded by the bad decisions they made. Now lets hope that Office Depot puts down a better countertop as per my recommendation as a customer. Only time will tell!!

I know the guys (JSS, Neal, Jon, Deen and Ross) all like making money and the idea of supporting the families they all have along with the hobbies and extra activities they do besides making the music... well that all is in the mix here! We'll see more of them soon... and we will have the opportunity to pay them for what they present us ... and I'm hoping it is going to be something that I want to see and hear... and that it will all turn out great!
That is my hope! 8)

A blow for the band? Shit, the fucking BAND did this to themselves! And what direction? You believe that sack of sorry shit? Their new direction went out the door when they kicked him out of the band!

They have no fucking character or integrity.

Who fucking cares about Office Depot?

Yeah Journey could have had them, but they lost us.

New Sound or the "Classic" Journey sound from the Greatest Hits? Only time will tell.

Dirty dozen. Washed up. Nostalgia tours. County fairs in 2 yrs or less...

I can't speculate or even fathom the decisions and the sheer volume of ideas and directions that they have to narrow down to keep the whole thing they do onstage going.

U really think it's that complicated? Let's call it ego, simply that. Mr. Plastic Botox Face can't stand having his thunder stolen. End of story.

I'm a fan of Office Depot.

I'm so happy for u. Can I skip the rest of this boring story? I really don't care where u buy ur printers! Has nothing to do w/Journey. NOthing.

and we will have the opportunity to pay them for what they present us

I've paid for the dirty dozen a LOT in these last several yrs. I went to many concerts, got front row seats. Went twice last yr alone actually. About 5 times in 2004, I think. Can't remember back further, but several times since 2001. I bought numerous greatest hits re-releases. I think I paid my dues. Yeah it might be fun to hear a new singer do the dirty dozen again. But man, I bought & sold those songs a few times over.

Keep dreaming bud!

I fully agree with this post, I'll alwayd love and support this band, heck I support all things Neal does. People here alwys have their minds made up when something like this comes up, I say wait for the future to see why this happened and then judge.

If you've all given up on Journey why even bother to spend time on this forum ?
Rock on !

ROFLOL ... that box just killed me in the bluejeangirl76 post ... this is sure one crazy ride being a Journey fan.
The only thing that might be crazier would being a member of the band and not knowing if you took a trip or went on a break if you would still have your name and picture on the website as a member. Heck when Steve Smith and Ross Valory were outed off the stage during Perry's last tour with the band the actions have been pretty consistent.

Yep, long winded posts and my opinions are my own and life goes on ... sorry you guys didn't like my Office Depot story.
