Steve Perry's Second Banana

Well, he’s done it once again.
In the early 90’s, his ego damn near pushed Jon Waite to flip his powdered wig, forgo his affected stiff British upper lip and challenge Neal to a 20-pace duel.
Shortly thereafter, he petulantly stomped away from the Gioeli brothers with middle finger extended, and worse yet, their sister clutched kicking and screaming under his ogreish guitar arm.
More recently, as fans shelled out benjamins for the very sort of bad street pantomime you wouldn’t drop a spent prophylactic into an open guitar case to watch, Neal simply looked the other way.
And now, what began as, and was shaping up nicely to be, the most promising era of Journey since Escape, has come to an anticlimactic grinding standstill - so much so in fact, I’m still reeling from the after-effects of whiplash.
To be fair, warning signs loomed.
Ask any long-suffering Journey fan; the drought of recent activity should’ve been a red flag that all was not kosher in the eyes of King Neal.
Where went the sounding of the trumpets?
What happened to the unprecedented rah-rah fanfare that preceded this lineup as it embarked on its maiden tour?
It was as if the air had been sucked out of the amphitheater – no small feat considering Neal’s swollen-head never provided much room to begin with.
The only lead singer this egomaniacal grifter hasn’t managed to piss off yet is Sammy Hagar – and that’s only because he’s too CaboWabo shitfaced to give a damn.
This lineup even had Queen’s Brian May singing its praises – the rock equivalency of ambrosia raining down upon the heavens – adulation like that certainly don’t come easily, much less twice.

I don't know if Jeff has signed a gag order yet, but if he hasn't and he's looking for veangence, I think he should blow the lid wide open on TapeGate.
In fact, I think its time Andrew spoke out, as well.
Enough favors, people.

I agree my friend. I wish Jeff would speak up now before the lawyers start seeking him out. I almost cannot believe someone in the band won't talk to him. They must not know him very well, or either he already has signed something when hired.

No Shit...

But I bet The band's Legal Machine is
gonna try their damnedest to gag Jeff for years
because they KNOW how loved he is by his fans, how
he loves to interact with us and they also know how
bad they royally ass-fucked him...

I hope Jeff calls Augeri, they arrange a nice, little
sit-down with Mr McNeice and go to town on these ass-clowns...

Hmmmm... Drew will be in town in October,
Jeff will be there too...
Supposedly Augeri can talk by October...

I could not agree more with you, even if he has a gag order he can let someone else do the talking for him,and yes blow the tapegate saga up on them as well.
Bring on the music police and arrest the band

Does anyone think Jeff would have been allowed to perform with them for ANY length of time without the lawyers making him sign all those confidentiality agreements in advance? There is no way he is going to be able to bring the skeletons out of Schon & Cain's closets and tell it like it is. You know he wants to, but he wanted to be their singer more, so he probably signed all the same shit Augeri signed....maybe more, after that fiasco.

It has nothing to do with having class or lacking it. It has to do with getting screwed and being expected to just shut up and keep all their screwed up secrets surrounding the dismisal . Nobody should have to do that. I don't think Soto is the kind of guy to allow people to just screw him over, make him look like the bad guy without making his side of things clear. He's gained alot of fans by being real with them. It would be great if he could continue that, but I bet he signed his option to do that away when he first joined Journey.
I hope they aren't starting Jeremey out like that, too, but it's looking that way already.
