3) Don't let your heart control your decision. Use a neutral 3rd party to run this past before signing anything. Protect yourself and your family.

Point well taken. And with that, ladies and gents...it's been real.

Jeremey,

Congrats on at least being able to meet the guys. Should you get a chance to work with these guys, I will be happy for you but knowing what we know now, I would also be a bit nervous for you.

hey now,,,chill out everyone...... everyone is entitled to their opinion. and i have to agree, even tho Jeremey is a great singer, journey has made their final misstake.
the fact that neal, jon and jeremey have planned this since VA show in May, shows how much respect they really have towards the guy who saved them last year....

So there was Jeff, doing something

I wouldn't doubt it.
People were telling me how awesome Jeff sounded on some Journey demo cd while Augeri was still in the band.
I wasn't clear if Jeff made this of his own volition, or if it was done at the band's behest.

I wonder how many potential Journey singers have auditioned and been in standby mode thru the years.

A certain poster from another messageboard posted this:

Neal Schon has no interest in using HUGO - he thinks Hugo sucks. Chalfant would be a good choice.

The guy Neal is interested in is the singer in my Journey tribute band "Raised on Radio" who crushes Jeremy from "Frontiers" (who Neal also wasn't impressed with)

I am going to post sound clips of Raised on Radio with me and my bro ***** on guitar and you'll see what I'm talkin about....

The poster is a complete and utter jackass and tends to talk alot and name-drop to no end

Holy Crap- Jeremy would've been a good choice. He does ESCAPE better than Augeri or Sotto did live. Hell, this recording sounds as good as Perry did on later tours. You DO have to take into account this is one show and not from a huge, lengthy tour. Jeremy kicks ass. It'd be cool to see him do it just because he's cool and he's sounds VERY much like Perry. He's got a rough spot there near the end of the tune, but Augeri NEVER hit that friggin' note EVER and he got the job for 8 years.

Having said this, I wouldn't wish this job on ANYBODY!
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Jeremey has planned this for a month? That I can't believe. That goes against the character of the Jeremey I have come to know in this past yr. Neal & Jon, I believe. But dont drag Jeremey thru the mud. He is a gentleman.

Lula, thanks for your post and I respect your opinion. Only two points I can make here. First off, I never instigated anything as far as TG went. I was approached behind the scenes by people involved to help provide support for their arguments. The fan base was tearing itself apart. I was not outraged at Steve A or the band - As every post I made emphasized the fact that "everyone has to do this at one point or another, please look at this evidence and make your own decisions." Again, I was asked to offer some professional expertise to that situation, and only came forward with some information in the hopes of quelling the battling between the fan camps. I came to help a friend online who asked me to help bolster their situation. Now point 2, why am I not as outraged about JSS' situation? Who says I am not? Who says it doesn't look like shit and it tears me up to see people battling about it! But now, like it or not, I'm part of the story. So I'm doing my best to maintain some level of impartiality here, while at the same time not adding to any speculation or further damage to the fan base. This whole thing will work itself out. As I've said continually to you and people in private messages and publically, the dust will settle, the music will survive.

If tribute bands aren't your thing, then I am fine with that too. The point of my original post was why is it particularly bad to have a tribute band singer as a singer (who knows the catalog possibly more than the band themselves), versus a singer from another area or genre of music that may not have the same perspective on the material?

I apologize to you Lula, for anything I may have said or done to offend anyone, and I plan on counting all of you among my friends no matter what happens, but don't make a TG comparison here when there isn't one to be made. I hope I've been clear in my role in all of this and how much a night and day situation this is versus when I was approached to help out someone who was getting sandbagged left and right.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me, you have not offended me at all. I don't begrudge you in any way. I'm not comparing this to tapegate, I was just trying to understand your position. Obviously you have every right to do as you see fit. I think it's great you have been given the opportunity to sit down with guys you admire. I used to admire them too, before they cheated their fans and have shown complete disregard to a fellow, now former, band member. You have to admit the cropped photo, missing tour info, missing bio before the press release which is buried below all the Soprano's press is tacky. It's like they took a magic eraser and just attempted to make the past 11 months disappear. Like I've stated numerous times, Jeff with his talent and integrity saved Journey for me. Please tell me the the quote in bold does not mean you condone taped lead vocals. I understand background vocals are piped in and that seems to be the norm which I guess is okay.

We both have bigger things on the horizon with starting families and my concern for Sabrina and her health does not waiver. I hate the idea of stress being brought to her because of this. You are not at fault here, you've been dragged in. I guess Journey really doesn't care about the human element, a hard lesson for me to learn.

I've never gotten to see Frontiers since I'm stuck in the midwest, but Jeremy seems like a great vocalist and a great guy, I just think it would be a bad decision for Journey to hire anyone from a tribute band, regardless of who they are.

I think it would mean that he was up to the task. It's like a continuing audition, not to mention conditioning.
That shit is H A R D to sing and Jeremy sings the hell out of it AND sounds more like Perry than his two successors.
People griping about it should keep quiet till they hear it (true or not). I think that if it were true, it'd be amazing.
Maybe it wouldn't work out. Doesn't mean Jeremy can't sing, cuz he can.

Maybe Journey realizes it's just a stupid band? Geez you people acting like the world is ending are ridiculous. Get on with your life. Believe me it's just a stupid band, a once great stupid band. Any stress or whatever people are feeling is not caused by the band, it's caused by their own idiocy!

I second this. Jeremey...you're a cool cat and I'm sorry you're getting slammed left and right. I, for one, have NOTHING against you. Infact...I presume that this is your dream job and I'm happy you get to live it. Congrats to you. I think everyone's just really pissed at Journey right now...not YOU personally. A LOT of people were excited about the new direction, new album, fresh tour next year...then KABOOM. THIS happens. Don't take anything said here personally. It's frustration at it's greatest and I know it's not REALLY directed at you.
Take care of Sabrina, the baby, and yourself, bro.

Oh give me a break. Who the hell is acting as though the world is ending? I've always maintained the "just a band" feeling, still do. Journey is just another classless band that don't give a rat's ass about their fans or band mates. As far as stress goes, lighten up! Jeremy's wife is pregnant. He is involved here and this is an ugly course of events.

That's exactly how Perry replaced Fleischman.

Herbie brought Perry along to Colorado - told everyone he was Villanueva's cousin (which I believe he is) and while Fleschman was out doing something - instant audition.

The rest is as we argue about it daily.
