JSS & Journey

Postby harko » Thu Jun 14, 2007 2:46 pm

Hi everyone. I've been here a while, although I haven't posted much at all. I never formally introduced myself or gave my opinion, so here goes. I've been a Journey fan ever since my older brother bought an 8-track of Evolution when it came out. Journey with SP is the music I grew up on, however I continued to follow them with SA, attending 1 concert. After I bought the Arrival cd (I did try to make myself like it, but couldn't - just personal taste), I knew that incarnation of Journey wasn't for me. After "tapegate", I thought Journey was finished. Enter JSS. The few times I have posted shows my respect for him. He's just a classy, decent human being who happens to be a great singer and musician. I thought this version of Journey could really make some noise. Now that's been shot down, and very little has been officially said. Like many others here, as practically lifelong fans, I think Journey should retire and take its place in history (if it still has one). As others have said, the only way they could come back from this is with SP. I don't think that will happen. As for JSS, I'll be a fan for life. I read his post in an earlier thread. He said he had a career to resurrect, but his career will be fine. It is Journey's career that is over.

Excellent. You are right, Jeff will be fine. Journey, who knows? Very well said.

I agree.

I'll credit Journey with this though...I didn't know of JSS prior to this past year so they brought a new fan to him. Now I'm trying to make up for lost time.

That's the truth. If Jeff didn't get anything else out of this, he got a whole legion of new fans.

Touring with Journey did bring him many new fans, I'm sure. But JSS has so much material out there I wonder why so many don't know about him. Timing?

That's a good question. I didn't know who he was before he took over for Augeri. Now that I look at his resumé, I can't believe I hadn't heard of him. He has done so much. That's another reason he will be ok, he knows everybody.

Possible, but not probable. If he puts out something new relatively soon, maybe he will be the one to capitalize on this.

I don't think so dude. Steve A hasn't put anything out yet to determine what his following is. As for Jeff, he is nothing but class. He came in here and talked and cussed with us. He knows how to treat his fans. Nothing but good words to say about Jeff. I'll follow him, you can bet on that.

Jeff is such a chameleon musically. He can do any style. He is still young and hungry. You guys are right, Journey's future is bleaker than Jeff's right now. I hope Jeff realizes that. He has won over many, many new fans thru this experience. I think he will actually be better off now. But I sure would have loved at least one Journey album out of him.

I also believe that is something else that is going to bite Journey. This is not an unknown guy they did this to. He has a very large following all over the world. Many are not going to appreciate what has been done to him.
