Journey should take the time off in the press release, not speak to anybody, and definitely not read the internet...and just let things calm down. If they come out with another lead singer choice right now, it's just repeating the pattern all over again.

What I'm confused on is all the people "in the know" were ("by process of elimination") pointing fingers to Jeremey. Sounds like he hasn't even auditioned. If this is the case, nothing is for sure. I've been in many bands, and hearing a demo versus auditioning are two totally different things.

Also, why can't these people "in the know" speak freely. If they are not affiliated with Journey, there's no gag order law preventing them from speaking out.

All I know is JSS is out.

No one here know what exactly happened. There's many conversations that are just among band members. Even if people here know someone affiliated with the band, that doesn't mean jack.

The real folks who know, aren't even on this board.

It will be interesting to get JSS take.

Frankly, I have no problem with the band not keeping him on as singer. It's their choice to make, and better to make a chance now than down the road. Let's be honest...these guys are getting older, and they isn't necessarily a lot of road left.
HOWEVER, you don't need to cr#p all over a guy when you make a change. If JSS actually posted that he had no idea what was going on, that would be disturbing. And yeah, it's not like these guys (or Perry for that matter) have a great history in that regard. But if it didn't come straight from JSS's keyboard, I don't really place much confidence in what "those in the know" say if they can't back it up.

Frick and Frack should pack it in and retire. There is really nothing left of Journey to be proud of.

Uh...not to state the obvious or anything, but it IS the two "old geriatrics" band. It's pretty much there decision to make (agin, not defending necessarily how they imposed it).

This all sounds pre-meditated to me. They obviously had no intention of allowing Soto to become their 'official' lead singer, but lead him along as they needed him to fix the Augeri/backing tape problem. I think Soto was being played from the beginning. In fact my own spin on things goes back to rumours prior to Soto joining of Journey taking the 'Rock Star - Search for a lead singer route'. Journey are greedy/old//desperate for money and will sell their souls to increase their own bank balance and I heard romours that they were offered a shit load of money to do it. Perfect for pampering their egos too, especially Neal and Jon who were pissed off at Soto taking all the limelight. They are all a bunch of deceitful bastards who deserve to be exposed for the way they have treated Soto. Jeff is one of the nicest guys in the business and they took advantage of that. I hope Jeff seeks legal advice and exposes them all all in court, as that way someone can bring up the subject of backing tapes, which is the very reason why Jeff was brought in, in the first place... to save their asses. Ungrateful bastards.

I don't doubt that some here know who the new singer is, but since they say they can't say anything, you'll never know who really knows right now who the new lead singer is. Until someone actually says who it is before any public knowledge, you will never know who really knows who the new singer is. I can't now even keep up with who has said they know who the new singer is. Maybe those people should reply right here and we can see the names without having to burrow through a bunch of post. I do believe there are people here who are in the know on some things, such as this. Many people here have proven to be crdible.
As far as who knows what happened, since anyone can tell anyone anything, you will never know who really knows what happened, because will anyone ever be honest about it anyway? Most likely Jeff will be the most reliable source if/when he dicides to speak about it.
It will also be interesting to see once peoples anger tones down, if it does, who really sticks to there guns about not supporting this band anymore.
For those who say they are done, they may be saying something different depending on who the new singer is and how they feel about this down the road. Emotions are running very high right now.
Overall, most people who go and support groups like this who play together at lilke state fairs if you will, will still go. Most people have no idea what's going on in these groups and just go to hear the songs and have a good time. They aren't online in these groups as much as we are.

You are right that nothing is finalized yet with certain singers.

Some of us, though, do get told certain things by folks as close to

JSS will be looking for label people, writing partners, new bandmates, etc. Nobody will want to work with him, if he's known as vindictive or bitter. The smart thing to do is be appreciative of the past year and wish Journey continued success. If he comes out spouting to the world how badly he was wronged - even in forums, emails, & PMs - then the music industry will close doors on him because whether or not it happens again, there will always be a fear of it.
This is psych101. People that run their mouths rarely get second chances.
