COCKROACHES
GENERAL: They are found in dark areas in kitchens, basements and sewer lines. Cockroaches like dark, warm moist places and can be found outside in the yard. They are most active at night both inside and out.
INFECTIOUS DISEASES: The cockroach probably brings more disease closer to more people than any other insect. Since the cockroach is nocturnal, human contact is often unknown until disease symptoms appear.
ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE:
If humans ingest cockroach contaminated food, it can lead to illness.
PEST CONTROL: Excellent sanitation is best. Sprays and powders will kill hidden roaches but incomplete spraying can cause roaches to move and start new colonies that may become immune to insecticides. Seal all cracks and crevices. Eliminate moisture sources such as leaky plumbing and be sure to clean up any spilled food in cupboards. Professional help may be required to obtain complete elimination.
