Bad English?

Postby Greg » Fri Jun 15, 2007 12:50 pm

I think Neal and Jon would have a better chance at resurrecting Bad English at this point. I know it was said that they couldn't work with John Waite...but I'd like to know if that was the whole story with that band? I loved Bad English!

God No. I'd hate to see John Waite get dragged through any of this type of BS.
I hope Cain and Neal go back to making elevator music solo albums.
In other words, vanish into obscurity.

NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Funny how Journey went from being two members away from Soul SirkUS to being a member away from Bad English.

 I've always wondered though. If Bad English hadn't broken up, how far would they have went? Maybe they wouldn't have went far considering they were on the verge of the grunge scene, but I thought both albums were excellent.

did you see the tour when John Waite toured with Journey, and i think Peter Frampton a few years ago> Neal came out and played with John W. Friga was nowhere to be seen. i think Friga was Waite's biggest problem, not Neal, but I am probably wrong.

Actually I think you're right on that. I remember seeing a youtube video of John Waite. I can'te remember the song, but it was a song that was recorded after Bad English had broken up...and Neal was in the video playing guitar. Actually, it was everybody from Bad English except for Jon. I'm pretty sure this video and this song was after the Bad English deal. I will have to find it.

Maybe it was just here in STL. I dunno. But it happened. The crowd went wild. but it also showed how little class Friga had, by carrying on the fued with Waite.

Never liked the guy, never warmed up to him. He just always seemed too "smug" to me. I know he's a great songwriter & all, but, just my opinion...

He hasn't written a great song since the 80's. Some of the best were even for other singers, like Heart or Sammy Hagar. Loverboy even.

As a singer, he's got nothing on any REAL singer. As a human being, he's a low life.

2001. Happened in Chicago too. I believe Deen & Neal came out. Definitely Neal.

Cain definitely has the talent. I dunno, it's probably completely unfair of us to judge these guys...at least for me since I don't know them personally. Maybe in order to be successful in the business, you have to be a jerk...who knows?

Bad English was a real good band.I still love the albums, excellent songs and sound.
With that being said,I think they could have been named Bad Timing.Like you said, the grunge wave was drowning all the melodic acts back then...
Really a shame. In proper circumstances I think BE would have been a huge hit.

Back to present, now that melodic rock seems to gain back the lost power,I'd like to see BE resurrected.
You know, after reading Brian May's message,I thought of BE too. They should put Journey to rest and work again on that project.
Like another poster said,Journey is almost Bad English anyway.

Oh well...I don't see that happening. How would they drop the name that can still bring them benefits? If they wouldn't think so,they'd give it up.
Obviously, the plan is to keep the renown umbrella opened.Too bad it's raining shit,tho...

Totally with you on the smug thing. That always bugged me about him. Watching him in the old interviews or listening to those Journey radio interviews that are floating around, I'm always like "what's with this guy?" There's a number of moments where you have SP and Neal screwing around, and it's funny, and the Frig is never in on it. He pipes up like he's the father trying to shut the kids up, interrupting and getting back to the "serious interview" because he just SO loves to hear himself talk.

Waite has refered to Neal in many interviews
since BE's demise as "a friend".
Like he is now doing with Journey,
Friga-Fuck clashes with anyone around him
that he doesn't feel is worthy to be in
his pressence... The guys a fucking ego-maniac!
I'm surprised he and Neal have stayed together
this long...
It's like putting Randy Moss and Terrell Owens
on the same team and expecting them to work it out... :D

Yeah, no kidding right? As a person, he sucks. But you don't have to necessarily be a good person to excel at what you do, and yes I admired the Frig as a songwriter and musician. That went out the window for me when he recorded his SECOND version of Faithfully.

Dude, get off it. Do something else. That cow is dry. It gave you superb output in 1983 when the other guy sang it but it's done now. We know you love youself and your chart topping power ballad but there's a reason it did so well the first time.
