Wrong. Read the blog more carefully. Neal told SOMEONE ELSE before JEFF left for Europe. He didnt tell Jeff.

BTW, pay attention to the fact that Journey/mgmt asked Kevin Chalfant to do the 5/12 gig & become their lead singer. When he said ge coildn't do that one gig due to prior commitments but would be glad to take the spot, they had Jeff do it. They told KC they were gonna hire him b/c Jeff was leaving. A few wks later, KC was told no thanks. We hired someone else. 2 weeks later, they fired Jeff. Interesting how they twist things.

Believe it or not. It's true.

That was a really well thought out and statesmanlik post from Oh Sherrie, I thought. Until it got to the last sentence about Jeremey. I really feel for the guy as he has a fabulous voice and seems really nice from his posts. And I can't say hand on heart what I would do in his shoes - and I just thank God I'm not. But for myself, I'm firmly in the "the Journey has ended" camp and I'd like nothing better than to see them play to empty houses and their career turn to dust. I don't call that vindictive either, I call it Karma - getting no more than they deserve.

Hey there! Hi how are you? :D Regarding Jeremey, I think, well I hope and pray, that he sits back weighs up the situation and asks himself one simple question...' Am I happy to take the risk?' ...I've read a few posts where people have said that he would be getting to live his dream, well that is a nice sentiment, and I am in aggreeance and applaud anyone who gets to do such a thing.
However, dreams can turn to nightmares very quickly, just as JSS's dream did. :)

I agree. Since 1998, it's all been about paying tribute to the Perry years anyway - so it's just business as usual. We're not talking about a band with a vibrant or interesting recording career - and judging from the muted reception to Winds of Freedom the well had possibly run dry even with JSS in the band - so what does 'being a Journey fan" mean anyway? It's down to whether or not you want a fun night out listening to the old chestnuts from the 1980s. And Jeremy can deliver that easily, it seems.

Is it sad that a once great band has been reduced to this? Well, we've had a decade to adjust to that reality. Yes, JSS briefly got our hopes up about an exciting new record - but unfortunately it seems that the industry didn't see the potential of this line-up. And JSS probably didn't want to be a tribute singer for the next two or three years, anyway - and rightly so.

I guess the only way Journey can regain any of the stature and credibility they've lost over the last decade is to do what Queen have done - and hire a big name who gets equal biilling on the marquee. But if they can't and Jeremy is the guy - maybe we ought to stop taking this so seriously and just enjoy the nostalgia shows for what they are?

By the way, I' m loving the new avatar, Sherrie. :)

Yep I agree, JSS is too talented a songwriter singer and musician to just be a tribute band singer. I do think if this hadn't happened they would have bloomed with JSS 's creativity/versatility on board, if he had had the chance to use it :) in my opinion....And that is not disrespecting anyone in the band it's just a comment that he could have furthered what they already had. :)

Hey folks, I wasn't trying to tell anyone what they should think and feel. Nor was I critcizing anyone for what they do think and feel. The post was meant to be more contemplative than confrontational.

I've been on line more for the last week because I fell and have a sprained ankle. I have to do a lot of sitting around with my foot propped up, so I've been taking all of this in. I noticed that all the different feelings about it seem to run along the lines of certain groups of fans. There are exceptions of course, but generally it seemed to depend on what brought them to Journey fandom. I decided to put my thoughts on that down into a post that I thought some might find interesting. Sorry if it offended anyone. That wasn't my intention at all.

 No Ian, I'm not Jeremey's PR person. I'm just a friend and fan of his. I'm also a fan and friend of Jeff's. If Jeremey had been chosen in '98 I'm not sure how I would have felt about that. I didn't know Jeremey then. But I do think the new material that they recorded would have sounded a lot more like the Journey that we all became fans of.

Another way to look at the situation is that if Jeremey had been called upon to get them through the DL tour when Augeri couldn't do it, most of us on this board would have been ecstatically happy for him. In fact, during tapegate when the subject of who would be the replacement the idea of it possibly being JSS was dismissed out of hand as not being right and Jeremey was suggested as being the perfect replacement. I'm not going to go back and dig up the old posts, but I'm pretty sure it was the guy who's issuing the "fuck you" posts to me who said it absolultely shouldn't be JSS. Funny how those things happen. As it turned out I'm glad they did call on Jeff because I got to see what a fabulous singer and performer he is and got to meet a really great guy whose career I'll follow no matter where it goes now.

I refuse to be put in a position of having to choose between Jeff and Jeremey because someone decided to prematurely leak info on his being approached for the job. If this campaign against the way Jeff was treated by Journey had been kept, as it should have been, about Jeff vs Journey the lines wouldn't have become quite as blurred and it would have been easier for some of us to take a firm stand. But the argument was unfairly made to become about JSS vs Journey/Jeremey. That was a bad campaign strategy.

I'm as angry as anyone for the way Jeff was used and mistreated by those assholes. But you see I've known what assholes they are ever since the BTM and therefore wasn't that shocked and appalled that they acted true to their characters. I came back to Journey when they brought Jeff onboard despite them and I can't say I won't do it again. I sure as hell won't be made to choose between two performers and friends that I both admire professionally and like personally because of those assholes.

Well, to anyone who may or may not ever advise any future ex-lead singer. Remind them to pack extra lube.

Remember Jeremey, you can only carry on 2 oz bottles and they must be in a clear ziplog bag.

Have a safe flight.

What hurts the most is that Perry fans like Sherrie were brought back in by JSS.....

Yep, that makes it quite a damned kick in the face. It's not as if we haven't been vocal about the fact that it was Jeff that lured us back, but they don't seem to care.

Wait a second. We're saying that the majority of the perry-fan base came "back in" because of 5-6 loons who despised Schon/Cain/Augeri started lining up chanting "Hosanna!" on the internet?

By and large, the crowds were the same size they've always been w/out perry.

Even people like HOTS PP PF and Matt didn't buy in.
