And here, IMHO, you've hit the nail squarely on the head, Dave. "They" wanted Augeri's replacement to be good, just not too good. Unbelievable.

Maybe the last 10 years have been a bad dream?
Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow in June of 1997 and go out to buy my tickets for the Trial By Fire tour? :(

If this guy is *so good* how come he's been unable to mount anything other than a 2nd rate career?

Same reason hack-job shit like Britney Spears & Fergie get uber-famous...people don't know talent when they hear it...audiences are super-fickle too. What's hot now is lame later...it's the way of the world. JSS's style is considered "old"...at one time he was part of a band on a major label (a couple times, actually), but market shifts kept him and thousands like him out of million-selling status.

Sorry, but if the guy could write songs he would have found a way to make it.

The *real* talent is in songwriting.

"Make it"? The man makes a very, very good living singing & writing. Just because he's not on Billboard's Hot 100 doesn't mean he's not a successful, working musician.

If all it took was songwriting, Journey's last 3 recordings would be platinum sellers because they are loaded with good songs...

yea, I have seen him live, and he is exactly what Journey has needed for the past 10 years...

He brought energy, entertainment, excitement back to those old foogies.. Maybe they just can't handle jeffs talent..

Which part of 2nd rate don't you understand?

And, no, the last 3 Journey recordings were not loaded with good songs.... that's comical.

But what do you expect, they're missing one of the primary songwriting talents of their formidable years.

What would be the point?
This jackass has an agenda
and won't deviate from it.
responding to his lame assessments of Jeff
and his abilities are just feeding into his hands...
let it go. let him/her go...

If enuff time goes by without any responses,
he/she will go back to reading Dr Suess and watching Barney re-runs :)
