Mmmm... don't know... NONE of the band-members returned Jeff mails or calls for weeks (probably up to now), they were all in it together.

Good post. They still are as far as I'm concerned.

Depends what you define as success, yeah he pays the bills but Journey with Steve Perry is a lottery ticket cash-in. This is why he will only play with a Steve Perry fronted line-up. It also tells you that his view like Perry of the Post 98' line-up variations are that of a fractured Journey.

To me seeing a fractured Journey is better than no Journey, but now the planets have aligned themselves and the real Journey needs to be heard.

If the tribute rumors come out ahead of my predictions, I promise I will be the FIRST one to condem the band on how they have handled JSS. But until this happens or until JSS himself confirms or denies my predictions, then I cannot condem anybody as I don't have the facts from both sides.

If JSS is a victum of bad decision making from Neal and Jon, why would he post the Journey press release on his own site? Why would he not use his own? Why would he not be doing interviews doing his best to get the truth out?

The reason why is simple, he is stepping aside for Perry and is understandably disappointed that he can't see his own legacy through, I would be too. But I am sure he is still friends with the band and on good terms. Otherwise, why the silence, what could he have to lose?

It's called a Non-Disclosure Agreement, and I'll bet his severance pay is dependent on it.
That is even more simple.

Good to see you back, Allen. Let ME be the first one to apologize to you for (me) defending Neal Schon. You WERE right. He is a fuckin' asshole. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this whole thing...including who you think the next singer will be and why. Thanks. Dan

PS For the record, I think Jeremey is the front runner.

Why do you keep thinking that Perry is coming back to Journey? Perry isn't coming back to that mess of a band. Frick and Frack have runned Journey into the ground........

As I keep saying, Journey should retire !

Oh my god. First the Perry theory, now it's the Perry/Smith theory? Which by the way is even more ridiculous.

And it's DEEN. And if you're still waiting for JSS to jump in and confirm your theory, keep waiting.
I think he's got bigger things on his mind right about now. Bet he won't? How about bet he CAN'T.
Have you not been reading? He doesn't know what's happened or why this went down, so how is he supposed to know anything about what the "band" plans to do from here out or who, if anyone, they plan to hire. Enough with the theories. No one named Steve is coming back to this band.

Apology accepted.

As for my thoughts, well, they don't really matter. But I'll play along for conversation's sake.....
I'm simply one in a long list of yet another idealistic ex-employee's who was spit out when I no longer had any flavor left.
I don't buy tickets... especially to a show that had more variety eight years ago than it does today, despite having more material to choose from.
I have all the Journey music I care to buy, I'm not interested in any re-masters.
I now know what SP meant when he was afraid of them "fracturing the name".
I never thought they would be capable of the amount of bullshit they have generated.
Herbie was right about every one of them. As he was "right" about everything as it relates to JOURNEY. btw, he didn't steal anything from them. If he had, you can be sure there would have been lawyers there to lap up the spilt blood.
Outmaneuvered and thought things through more fully perhaps, but that's not larceny.
Instead of buying Ferrari's, blow and boobs for bimbos, he bought real estate, San Francisco real estate.
You do the math. which reminds me.....

I'm glad I don't have to deal with their lies, cheating, infidelity, drunken outbursts, druggie behaviors and overall bullshit anymore. Crocodile smile comes to mind
As I've said in other threads, they have become a caricature of themselves and it's all from chasing their god, Mammon.
I still can't find where it says, in any religious dogma, that it's ok to do business or treat people the way they do.

Their NEXT singer? Whose name is next on the karaoke list, ask the bartender...... That you're even using the words "new singer" is just plain ridiculous.
What's next, Mrs. Schon ver5.0 up onstage ala YOKO ONO, or worse, writing lyrics? yikes, you heard it here first.....

Smith? IF AND ONLY IF SP decides to take another lap would he ever return, and then only after he's (SP) actually showed up at a rehearsal FIRST,.
I remember getting a call practically 10 years to the day about SP's "hiking accident" and the subsequent decision to put things on hold.
Smith was less than impressed when last I saw him as we returned his equipment to Smith Central.

In 1998 when we embarked on Vacation's Over, I never thought we would be talking about JOURNEY's NEW singer choice and the commercial implications of that on ticket sales on the road, a full 10 years down the road.

Yet here we are.

I guess we (the little people} are the only ones who need to live within our means.

At least I can say I worked for them before they became the laughing stock they seem to have become.
I worked under Herbie and it went downhill from there.

He'd be in for a reunion tour, trust me. The zero interest you encountered might be due to the fact that the TBF tour that never happened left his bank account somewhere between 10 and 20 million dollars short.

I'd bet my house that you'll never see him behind a Journey drum kit again.

Is it a very nice house? Hopefully it is on the water. :)

Maybe temporarily from Journey, but NS will keep him on the personal payroll. A great drummer with a great voice is VERY HARD to find...which I think is precisely why Neal has held on to him for 18 yrs now. Besides, someone has to sing Perry's part during the show. Yuk, yuk.

Well, the first thing you need to know is NOVATO is the name of a town in Northern CA.
The JOURNEY corporate name is NoMoTa. anyone know what that stands for????

I was employed by NOCTURNE as an electronic engineer / bench repair technician from 1984 through 1989. During that time, between repairing various dimmers, intercoms, and fabricating custom lighting fixtures, I developed a color changer device that we adapted to a manufactured light that was said impossible to do and used for the U2 Joshua Tree tour.

My technical brilliance and charming personality made me an obvious choice when Rindell was looking for a crew for a little combo JC was putting together to tour behind a vocalist named Michael Bolton.

After blowing my back out on that tour, and subsequent recuperation, I came back (at Rindell's behest) in 1993 " for a few weeks work" to refurbish the now EX Journey rehearsal studio into a commercial recording studio for Neal's personal use. I subsequently made the first ever inventory of guitars and musical equipment Neal had ever had.

Later, in 1996 while attending a Christmas party at Neal's new home, I observed some hill erosion (El Nino rains) and alerted him to it, I then supervised and managed the design and construction large (60' x 45'tall) retaining wall that saved his house from any further threat of slippage. I also designed and installed a dual fuel (natural gas & propane) Back up generator and transfer switch system to power the whole house. The whole thing was built into a room built under the garage built into the side of that hill.

I rebuilt and ran the studio until 2000 when Neal lost the lease. Yes, he had rented it that entire time, from 1978 until 2000.  Could've bought 10 buildings.....

When the Herbie roast happened in 1995 and everyone was there except SP, I was the technician who tuned every stringed instrument played that night. I personally tuned some 37 electric guitars, 8 basses, 6 acoustic guitars, 3 mandolins and a banjo.

I so impressed Neal that night he paid me $200.00 out of his pocket. The beginning of the end ....
Additionally over the years, I worked on Ross's studio and then when JOURNEY started back up, I became the crew chief and instrument technician for Jon and Ross until 2001, when I was "promoted" to Internet Operations Manager. Nice title, but essentially a paper shell.

I was terminated in 2002 , shortly after opening the journeyswag store after chewing JT out for failing to reimburse me the $1,000.00+ Journeyswag phone line bill, despite turning in the copies of the bill several times as he requested.
Some might think it was for my comments on the old VH-1 board, but NS told me it was for biting the head off of JT, so you gotta know who I believe.

Like I've said elsewhere, I'm glad it happened , although in retrospect I see where my actions could have been different and MAY have added to my time, but my name had been on the chopping block for a long time.
It's common knowledge that when the current manglement team come onboard, all the old crew are terminated. This way they can hire their own techs who will work for less money, and they (manglement} then look like they did something that "made" money.

I hope most of them weren't Floyd-Rose style models. I still regret getting one as my first (and still only) electric guitar. Pain in the butt to tune, though they stay in tune fairly well and I HATE changing the strings. Anyway, sounds almost like a full-time job, in an of itself.

Steve Perry isn't coming back! Put down the crack pipe. How many times does Andrew have to say it?

I wouldn't think they'd fire Deen, but who knows... he doesn't really upstage anyone and I know Jonathan likes his singing, so I would think if he still wants the job he could keep it.
