Jeff is coming out of this all smelling like a rose!

Postby GuessWho2 » Wed Jun 20, 2007 12:42 pm

He is the only player in this whole, sick and twisted morality play with any grace or integrity.

How you ask is he gonna come out smelling like a Rose? Well, I am glad you asked!

#1 He was exposed to HUGE numbers of new fans who may NEVER have known who he was here in the States! (I am aware he has a huge following in Europe) There is no such thing as bad publicity.
#2 He can put on he resume (do they do resumes in the music busines???) LEAD SINGER FOR JOURNEY!
#3 Since he IS the only person with class in all of this then he will be held up as an object of professionalism in the face of blantant grandstanding but the Tribute Band formely known as Journey (Symbol in place of the name to come later!)
#4 EVERYONE is backing him, over arguably one of the top 5 Melodicrock bands EVER...and that backing and the anger of the fans is going to translate into tough times for the Betrayers (the new name of the band formerly known as Journey, I decided a Symbol was too over the top!)
#5 Rinse and Repeat.

Jeff is BETTER OFF without Journey. I know it sucks right now for him, and they left him high and dry (No that isn't a Def Leppard reference) but in the end it will be shown that Jeff, in taking his lumps now, will come out on top!

You are right on every count. I had never heard of Jeff Scott Soto until I showed up at the concert last July and heard he was singing instead of Augeri.

Sorry Mr. Soto, but I know who you are now and will follow you from now on. :D
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Jeff is coming out smelling like a rose because he has done something for years that Journey has never done....RESPECTING THE FANS and giving them what they want musically while still doing what works for him as an artist. I've never had the pleasure of meeting him, but those who have say he's really a great guy, and I believe it. I'm sure when things blow over and he gives his account of the latest goings-on, he'll do so with tact and class. I've always respected him as an artist, but lately even more as a person with the way he's handled this whole thing.

Good business sense, and shows he is a 'real' person. You can never go wrong in life with those qualities.

Not only is Jeff a brilliant talent, but he is a GREAT guy. I was at a Soul Sirkus gig at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia in 2005. I ran into a group of JSS fans who had flown up from Florida specifically for the gig and had an early flight home in the morning. They were supposed to be on the list for a meet and greet with the band after the show, but there was a mixup and their names didn't get onto the list. As you might imagine, the venue employees have heard every story in the book, weren't buying their story, and left them standing outside, very disappointed. Someone who DID get into the meet and greet mentioned to Jeff that some fans from Florida were stuck outside, so Jeff and Virgil Donati went outside, found them, and took them into the meet and greet where they all hung out for a couple of hours and had a great time.

JSS=great singer, man of his word, and a class act.

Jeff is very friendly, nothing pretentious at all. He doesn't act or think that he's better then anyone. Very outgoing and friendly, a "regular guy". When I met him at the meet-n-greet in Orlando at the HOB I asked him if he would say hello to a friend here on the board. It was very rushed that night but he took the time and without hesitation took my phone and spoke to the person. He sure didn't have to do that, so it was very nice of him. That and knowing how he's hung out with fans, from talking to him in pm and how he has come on these boards and just talked like everyone else shows alot about his character.

Oh I bet this is probably what an arrogant Schon & Cain think too.
They cut him a break. They paid him a ton of cash. They gave him a lot of exposure.
So what if they dump him. They did so much for him...he should be grateful.
At least, I bet that's what they think... :?:

That would be awesome, but I think the other guys in the band have day jobs. Zakk with BLS/Ozzy, and isn't Pilson with Foreigner now and wasn't Bonham the drummer and I know he's in Foreigner as well.

I only had to read the title, to know it's true.

Many of us have been saying this for a week+ now.

Everything said here is so true, but it still hurts, especially since Jeff probably thought of those scums as friends.. and when a friend screws you over like this, hell, who needs enemies!

Man... the lyrics to "New Position", in hindsight are pretty prophetic...

New Position

(schon / soto)

i been runnin' around, tryin' 2 make u see

i can't , can't seem 2 find the cure 4 my disease

no way, i aint buyin', your version of paradise

someday gonn' pack my bags, one desire, 2 see the other side

chorus:

can u see the, the writings on the wall, & i know 4 sure

i could show u things u thought were long gone, nothing left 2 say

new position, calling 4 a new day, come along with me

new position, giving u the right-of-way

i got, got no time 4 another phony friend

why do, do u insist-a, making me pretend

no shame, how do u live, with fooling yourself

no game, u lost your crack, get off my back, i wish u well

chorus

loose lip talking, send u walking

words you're saying, your style i'm slaying

so revealing, ill i'm feeling

i can't help myself, i say come on....

solo

no one's caring, what u declaring

what i'm finding, your shit is blinding

so revealing, i'll i'm feeling

let me tell u it's 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2 u!

yes, it's up 2 u.

chorus

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
