The Bottom Line

Postby MROCKFAN » Thu Jun 21, 2007 12:50 am

The bottom line is JSS is a great singer, but he wasn't a good fit for Journey. They should have never made him a "permanent" member in the first place. They only alienated more of their fans. "Bad English" was not named "Journey" for a good reason. It's all about the singer. I wouldn't mind if Neal and Jon got together with JSS and formed a band by another name.

Your right. He was a GREAT fit for Journey. He was the ONLY logical fit for Journey.

JSS was too radical of a change in the Journey sound. I think they realized that after making him a member. People on here tend to be ignorant to the fact that this is a business. Journey is a business. Their business was built on the vocal stylings of Steve Perry. To make a radical departure from the sound that made them successful in the first place would be a mistake. They need to bring Herbie back as their manager.

I saw him twice last year. He sings the Journey catologue INCREDIBLY well. It was also acknowledged by fans around me at both shows, many who were there to see Def Leppard. Some of those fans even acknowledged at the second show that Journey blew DL off stage. He fit the Journey sound as well as anyone can or will IMO>

Who's ignorant? Yeah, THEIR big mistake was back in '98 when they cut Steve Perry off.

If they weren't gonna keep him, they shouldn't have made him official - you're right. But he took the catalog by the balls!

Radical action can bring progression. Just think if Thomas Alva Edison had been told that his invetnion, or Richard Arkwright who developed the first cotton mill in the uk were told this change was too radical. We would still be living in the dark ages! Sometimes people need to do Radical things to move on, and indeed to survive. Thats we do as a species isn't it?
I saw JSS with Journey and he was brilliant :)

Even if that is the case, Journey should still conduct their business transactions in a more straight forward, upfront manner. You don't run a business by letting people find out they're being let go by someone outside of your company!

Where the casual Journey fan probably doesn't care about this kind of stuff, as Journey's most loyal and diehard fans, I think we all care about what kind of people they are. It bothers me to know they are complete scumbags. I don't respect this band at all anymore. After tapegate, I lost a ton of respect for them because they all knowingly went along with a sham, but after this latest debacle, I couldn't think any less of them.

Journey doesn't care about us --- their life long fans who have been with them from day 1 through it all, we're still here, still hanging on. They don't deserve us. They are now seeming to want to cater only to the casual fan who only wants to hear the greatest hits. What a cop out. What a joke!

I'm beginning to think Steve Perry should never have let go of the Journey name. I'd rather remember the greatness that Journey was 25 years ago and not seen the mess they have become today.
