RIGHT ON NIG. TBF was a sleepy friggin album. Much worse than Arrival/Generations/World Play or Tall Stories's first album.
There are some good songs on it, but as a whole, it's an unfocused, uneven and uneventful record. The best 2 songs on it were Message of Love- A BLATANT rewrite of Separate Ways and I Can See It In Your Eyes- left off the US release.
Can't Tame the Lion was also a good one. The rest are like FTLOSM Part II.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I was late catching how great that song was/is......there is a part that blows me away.

I enjoyed Trial By Fire in general, wish it could have continued...just like that!

Steve,

I know you issued a statement saying there was no validity to the rumor that you would be rejoining Journey. BUT, many of us who have supported you and Journey for decades feel that without your help, the legacy you helped secure for the band will be washed away, never mind just "cracked". I beg you......knowing you owe nobody anything.....to rejoin Journey. Monster album, tour, media appearances, story tellers, etc. Save this ship........again. We'll repay you with ticket and album money of course, but more importantly our soulful cheers. Unite the fanbase, save the legacy and go out on top. We don't expect you to sound perfect on every show for every note - we just want you to lead this band out of the swamp. We have seen the Escape show on DVD and yearn to see you guys ride again.

Steve, YOU were right...and many of us were wrong about Journey moving on without you, if this is how they are going to choose continue. I know you didn't begin the Journey with the band, but we would sure love if you would think about ending it with them!

Together, you can again annoy the critics (HAH HAH) and inspire your fans. We have not stopped believin' Steve.

THIS, on the heels of the Sopranos, is the perfect time for a reunion.

I am very sorry to annoy you....and I respect your chosen life......but please just give it a second or two of consideration.

Signed.....
One of many distressed Journey fans

It's no use. Perry must pass the matrix of leadership to another autobot!

Agreed with totally. I always found Easy To Fall to be cut from the same cloth as Sweet and Simple, which is one of my favorites.

Actually, its a new dream for me, and it seems more productive than trying to convince myself a tribute singer is a good idea.

I personally like Arrival minus All the Way (and all of its bonus tracks, tracks that ended up on Blades CD, Mickey Thomas CD, etc.) and Generations better than ROR and TBF. I like Red13 and Remember Me. I even liked Winds of Freedom. But that doesn't mean that Perry isn't the answer to saving Journey.

Listen, Perry has been ASKED and HARASSED about re-joining Journey by obsessed fans and media looking for a story. But has he been begged by Journey and its entire fanbase. Has he seen that the stone is close to being smashed to smithereens?

Yeah, its a idealistic lame message. But I stand by it.

Dean-O....start a blog for me? SAVEOURSHIP??????

Yeah, seriously.

And why would we even want to see such a reunion, anyway?
It would just be depressing if you think about all the fucked up history behind it.

It would be kind of like watching the old Cruise/Kidman movies.
Like, it used to be good, but JEEZ some insane shit went down and fucked up the whole vision.

It is a great CD, from the opening of MOL it was just so good to hear his voice again. Got a few iffy songs on it, but the point is I'm fucking glad they made it, rather than not at all?

Exactly BJG. It wouldn't be real and from their hearts. I would be just a fake "save the legacy" project. It would be likely to end in disaster simply because Perry would resent them for what they've done for the last 10 yrs and they would resent the hell out of him for having to save their sorry asses.

Agreed! It's the first Journey CD since Frontiers that I have been able to listen from 1st to last track. Actually, surprisingly, the song that I might skip on TBF is Castles Buring..just because I hated how the guitars at the end of the song were so repetitive. Just got way too annoying for me.

Perry IS the answer to saving Journey. I agree with that.
BUT IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN SO WHY KEEP ASKING FOR IT???

It's like The Beatles- EVERY INTERVIEWER, EVERY SHOW, EVERY PIECE OF WRITING had "Beatles reunion?" in it. God how they must've hated that.

If I were them and Perry, I'd say "Listen and listen GOOD: It's over. They're assholes, my voice isn't what it used to be. I'm enjoying my life now. Leave me the hell alone".

It's over. Walk away from the friggin' Steve Perry Journey headstone and let him and them rest in peace.

 Easy to Fall isn't even the best song on that shitty album!

ok, if you say so. lol

I give you the win, after all, you are going to follow the band, and I am not, thus your word is more important.

Aw shit, never thought this would happen. I'm agreeing with Dean over Niggy. Image I think Easy to Fall is by far the best song not only on that CD but it's among the best of Journey overall.

MOL is a blatant rewrite of Separate Ways. Even the breaks are the same. It's a decent CD but it's the worst of the Perry era discs. Arrival is better.

Arrival is garbage.

One More
is a brilliant tune with even better lyrics.
WYLAW is a gorgeous ballad.
Break your Heart is so so
I love Forever in Blue
Easy to Fall is a top 5 Journey song

A mature CD. I love it

Sorry man, I just don't agree.

WYLAW IS a great tune.
Easy to Fall IS a great one.
Can't Tame the lion- good
I Can See it Your Eyes- laid on the floor. That would've improved the album a lot for me if they took off Just the Rain
and TBF and added this one.

Forever in Blue was the best Perry Outtake since Only For the Moment Girl (yawn).
One More does nothing for me. The lyrics mean nothing to me.
Castles Burning goes on and on and on yet goes nowhere.
That STUPID reggae track had NO business on a Journey album.
Just the Rain and TBF - The most aimless and boring Journey songs I've ever heard.
Colors of the Spirit- nothing memorable and Schon playing easy listening guitar.
MOL rips off Separate Ways in every way shape and form.

Arrival had a lot of great tracks.
We Will Meet Again
Higher Place
Loved By You
I Gotta Reason (!)
To Be Alive Again
Nothing Comes Close

These are all great tracks that have great hooks and go somewhere.

And I couldn't agree more on Easy to Fall, Dean. IMO, the song itself, blows away Open Arms and Who's Crying Now easily. :)

I'm an idiot. What the hell was I thinking leaving out TBF!!!! 8)
That's quite a copious amount of brain flatulance on my part.
I loved TBF too though. IMO ROR is the weakest Perry-fronted Journey record.

C'mon, be a little more objective? Arrival is simply not garbage. Its groove may not quite do it for you but there are great songs on it. I can't think of a single Journey/Perry/Bad English/Jimmy Barnes album where I can dismiss a whole CD as 'garbage'. You have better appreciative powers than schoolyard banter?

I love both ROR and TBF! Both great!

My favorites on ROR:

Happy To Give
Girl Can't Help It
Be Good To Yourself
I'll Be Alright Without You
Why Can't This Night Go On Forever

TBF:
Don't Be Down On Me Baby
When I Think Of You
Forever In Blue
When You Love A Woman
If He Should Break Your Heart
Still She cries
Message of Love

I still have the copy he sent me too. It's the only one I have and I still listen to it. I can't say I miss those days though because then I wouldn't have had the chance to hear, meet and adore JSS.

There are ups and downs on every road NIG. Well, unless you live in Nebraska. :?

"Easy to Fall" is my favorite on TBF. I only heard ROR & TBF in 2004, along with Frontiers...heck, basically everything they did with SP (as well as his solo stuff) I heard at the same time when I ransacked the store. I was actually afraid that they were all gonna be duds since I remembered the glorious beginning of Journey with SP & Infinity...it had been a very long time. I was stunned - I loved nearly every song on first hearing. I didn't have these forums or any info from other sources about these songs, just my own ears. Maybe, I shouldn't say stunned 'cuz I remembered the amazing sound they had in '78-'79...I guess I was beyond happy that they did so well & had the magic touch for a long time.
