Yeah, I saw that. Just didn't respond. Thanks.

I wonder is you could answer one for me?

About Rich's eyepatch.....Do you know the what and when?

I believe he lost his eye as a teenager in an accident with a firecracker or some such thing. He used to have a glass eye but just wears the patch now. He's a super nice guy. I have a t-shirt from the "Always Never the Same" tour with his signature, along with Robby's and Billy's.

Yeah....although Phil seems to be the businessman of the grooup....Rich seems to be the smartest. When Steve talks, you can definitely see the effects of the substance abuse.....

Yeah, he's got a tick or something but I'm not sure that's from drug abuse. He's kind of a moody guy, though, from what I've heard, kinda like Jon.

Ok, I have a question what is with these two recent side projects?

Steve Walsh’s new work and Native Window (Ehart, Greer, Ragsdale, Williams). Why don’t they just work on a new Kansas record? I don’t think these works are going to get much attention outside of the hardcore fan base so why not do something with the Kansas name on it? I am a hardcore and I still haven’t gotten around to listening to the two new tracks Steve Walsh has released.

Other than Proto-Kaw and a few other things with Kerry Livgren, I don't really keep very close tabs on other projects by the guys in Kansas.

Besides that video from Nebraska w/ Elefante.....are there other pro-shot shows, or very good audience videos from the 70s?

I've seen some good television performances from the early days of the band but that's about it.

I'm a huge Kansas fan but if you think Journey is rooted in the 'dirty dozen', Kansas is right there too

.....and Genesis.....

To be fair, they've had what, 3 albums in the last 20-ish years?

I'm not sure I would go that far either. I interviewed him a couple weeks ago and I didn't even air it. He was rather dull and boring too!

When they were here a couple weeks ago, they DID play "Hold On" FINALLY after an hour of...whatever.

The two new songs from Steve Walsh are pretty good. A little more straightforward rock and a bit less experimental than some of the stuff off his last album, Shadowman (which is worth picking up if you're a Walsh fan). He sounds good on both tracks, too.

Haven't heard too much about the project with the other guys but I don't think a new Kansas album is going to happen without Livgren writing the material. Since he seems to be happy with Proto-Kaw, that seems unlikely.

Yeah, if you're a big fan of Prog, then I think it was also their best album in quite a few years. My two favorites from the album are Icarus II and "The Coming Dawn."

Both great tunes. My favorite on that album is "Distant Vision". "Skin Tight Disappearing Blues" is really the only song I don't like. The intro to that tune is good, though.

STE was definitely an excellent album...right up there with the best of 'em. (Although Walsh's vocals were a little rough around the edges.) It was a great return to what they once were, though. I had given up hope that the original members would ever record together again long before STE came out...and was amazed that (basically) nothing had been lost. Least of all Kerry's ability to write great music for Kansas.

Yeah, Kerry really wrote some great stuff for Kansas. I think that is one reason that attracted me to the band was the deep lyrical content. I mean, everybody likes to hear the guitar riffs in Wayward Son, and Dust In The Wind is a classic, but the songs were not your basic boy meets girl type of lyrics. I even liked the band when John Elefante was lead vocalist. Well, I'm kind of partial to him since we both share the same faith, but I like what he brought to the band as well. Now, I'll admit, some of his songs were kind of weak, but I thought songs like Chasing Shadows or Windows were very good songs. I mean, they still play Fight Fire With Fire in concert, some good stuff to the band as well.

Vinyl Confessions is a decent album...it just didn't seem like Kansas (to me) at that point. Drastic Measures is terrible, though.

I've heard some of Elefante's more recent stuff...and while it's not exactly my cup of tea, his voice has become much better over the years. Maturity, maybe? But the guy has an absolutley amazing voice these days.

I became a Christian in '89 and didn't really get into Kansas until the early to mid 90s. I don't care as much for the Elefante albums, though "Vinyl Confessions" is pretty good. "Drastic Measures" is terrible, though, in my opinion. Anyway, what do you think of Elefante's solo work? I still list "Windows of Heaven" as my favorite solo album of his. Don't care much for "Corridors". "Defying Gravity" is pretty good as well.

Yeah, he's got more grit to his voice now, though I haven't heard him sing anything new over the last few years, since "Defying Gravity" anyway. That being said, he sang some of those old Kansas tunes as well as Walsh did while he was in the band.

They haven't done that song in years and most Kansas fans don't name it amongst their favorite tunes.

Windows of Heaven is a great album in my opinion! There were some great moments on Corridors. I like Treasure of Heaven and Where Does Our Love Go? Defying Gravity was ok....If You Just Believe and the title track are my two favorite ones from the album. I didn't get into Kansas until the very late 80's. My brother had a greatest hits tape and I took it and gave it a listen. Of course the two major songs, Dust and Wayward Son were the ones that got me hooked, but I soon got to where I liked all the songs from the GHs and then I started going out and purchasing the discography. Someone even gave me a VHS of a Kansas concert with Elefante as lead vocals. I thought that was pretty cool.

I haven't heard it lately, but they should play it! It was their best song off of the Power album in my opinion. The live version from the King Biscuit album was pretty good! It's funny, but in the part where the song says, "It's not so strange, for us to change" Walsh sings, "It's not so strange, for "Dust" to change." Thought that was interesting.

I much prefer "Silhouettes in Disguise", "We're Not Alone Anymore", and "Three Pretenders". The title track is pretty good, too, but the only song that really sounded like Kansas was "Musicatto". Actually, the only song on the album that I don't like is "Secret Service".

Yeah Secret Service was kind of stupid. I had forgotten about Silhouettes in Disguise. I don't know why, but I always liked Tomb 19. It kind of gave me that Indiana Jones type of feeling.
