This thread is one of the main reasons why talking Journey nowadays is a waste of time, and why I am bolting.

Either we get to talk about a bunch of bad people(Jon, Neal, Ross and Deen) or

get to talk about a guy who is retired and not coming back.

Dan, seriously, you should step back and look at this post. Complete faggotry and retardation. Come up for air once in awhile as your lips are wrapped around Steve Perry's dick....I am sure he appreciates the good job you're doing, but make sure to look up at him...guys like that you know.

I can't defend the firing of Steve & Ross, but in light of recent events, I can see how Perry just had enough of Neal & Jon. I can't believe this whole asshole side of their personalities is a new development. I used to put ALL of the blame on Perry, but I now believe he probably had valid reasons for doing what he did.

A lot of people here have said that they have known from personal experiences what assholes the two of them can be, but didn't say anything until now because you just figure, that's how it goes sometimes in this business, but in light of what's come out lately, no one seems shy is sharing a asshole story.
I think the point is that it's not as if we all have been naive over the years or are just learning now at our older ages how some people in the public eye, can be dicks just like the rest of us. Even to be one way on tv, and be different in person is no big surprise in the entertainment business. Even in real life, a boss may be a jerk at work, but he's the coolest guy at home.
I believe that so many people are sharing the stories now becuase they are trying to back up from personal experiences what jerks these guys can really be. And agian, not just having a bad day, but making fun of people right in front of other people. Fine, call me whatever you want, but yes, a couple of the stories here from when someone met one of these guys did make my jaw drop a bit.
Yes, this goes on everywhere all the time, so who cares, right, what makes these guys any different..well because right now here, we are talking about them and Journey.
Evem though these guys must hear the same stories of praise and over and over and over every single day, and it must get real old, they don't have to take it to the next step and be a dick. Make that person feel like shit in front of others.
A lot of times the reasons it doesn't hit some until they are older is because that may be the first chance they had to meet whoever. At any age, it can floor you when they go beyond being a typical hot shot star.

Not sure if it is in one of the archive threads, but who paid for the star on the WOF?

(I thought I had read somewhere that Neal paid for it?????).

The Band Bought the Star for 15,000 bucks. Cheap when you consider it's potential for advertising and marketing....of course they fucked that up too.

Well, you know what? I don't care if they are assholes. They made damn good music together, and that's really all that matters. All this abuse they are all getting is pretty ridiculous. Yeah, they treated JSS shitty. I feel as bad for him. But I think it is a blessing in disguise for him, because something better will come along for him. We all saw what he can do. You can't keep him down for long.

When you see somebody you know, visibly hurt, and the way he was treated, after saving their asses....remember that when you go buy their next shitty CD......Jeff saved them millions, and he got butt-fucked, and wasn't told why. That hurts me, and many others who do care about character. Fuck their talent and fuck their music. Friends come first.
Please don't complain about the amount "of abuse they are getting." It's more than deserved.

I'm sure they all were in there own ways at various times when they were in the thick of it. I'm not one of those 'loons who never thought Steve had any faults. (I'll never forget when Bill Austin got bitched at for posting a link on his website of Steve cussing when an amp blew. Some "ladies" on a Perry site made him take it down because they didn't think their sweet Stevie would ever say Fuck.) I digress though.

What separates the cream from the curd is whether or not they learn from their bad behaviour and improve it. Steve seems to have done that.

What's refreshing for someone who's spent about 4 yrs or so seeing Perry's character assassinated on an almost daily basis is that the other guys' flaws are finally being acknowledged.

None of them are Gods, but I think the way JSS was treated is far and away the worst example of ego-maniacal behaviour that I've ever heard of from anyone in this band.

Why? I wanted JSS in Journey, couldn't wait for a new CD. But Neal and Jon fucked up. I just don't feel the need to post it over and over again for weeks and weeks.

I think Journey is what it is, and Jeff is better than them. He brings more talent and energy to the table than they can handle.

Sorry if that disappoints you. I believe in looking forward. I'm sure JSS would rather do that, too.

I think more people are un-aware that these stars aren't just given out, than are bought by either the stars themselves, or fans of the stars. I've known it for years, but the last figure I heard was $5k, so it's been a long time, since I heard that.

As much abuse as teh BOYS are getting over this latest debacle, there's a good number of people here who are being very wishy washy, and going back on the disgust factor. That's really sad. This is about values and morals. Oh, and money for SOME people.
Without ego, we have no pride in what we are saying.

That isn't irony. Its called integrity. He KNEW what tools those two turds were way back then, and he knew karma would prove him right, so he stayed quiet. He has self respect, dignity, and has maintained a fanbase even while not working in the public eye. Thats a heavy hitter in my book.

I believe they should suffer consequences and all I can do personally is to go away. I know I am only one guy, but I can't listen to their music anymore, and I sure as Hell won't publicly support them, buy their crappy CD or see them on the carnival tour. I hope they fail, miserably.

At least he was a big enough to man to admit he was wrong. He said if he could do it all over that he wouldn't have done it. That's all I need to know about the man. Speaks volumes. I don't know everything that happened with TBF, but if recent events are ANY indication of the type of people he was working with, I'd have done the same fuckin' thing. He never bastardized the music. Never played to a phony show. Friga even said that he bled a little everytime he sang. The dude gave EVERYTHING. He respected the music and the FANS. Fuck Neal Schon. Your Av, like your argument, is embarrassing.

I hated him for dumping RV and SS but as you've noted at least he admitted his mistake and siad he'd do it differently. Furthermore to your point he never said anything bad about them. In fact, SS did play on a couple of the ROR tunes.

Also, at the time SP was simply following the JOURNEY way of stabbing and knifing. You are a product of your environment.

I'm slowly becoming a loon. Especially with all of this talk about JOURNEY searching for a Perry sound-a-like. I don't want to hear an IMPRESSION of SP. If I did I'd go see a tribute band.

I bet the Journey camp is celebrating today. How happy they must be to know that you will no longer be exposing their faults and revealing their secrets. Just what you revealed and exposed is debatable and I fail to see any harm done to them, on the contrary, they have given their side of the story and until established otherwise, it's whoever one should choose to believe.

I agree however JOURNEY makes it VERY difficult to "look forward" when all they apparently want to do is play to their past.
