Really???? Anyone can do an impression of Perry???? That might be one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever seen made! As I've said before...Suggesting anyone under the sun can sound like anyone whom they feel like sounding like is beyond ABSURD and simply NOT FACTUAL! I can tell you this...I certainly can't do an impression of Perry's singing voice, and I would imagine there aren't many here who could (at least well)!

I respect what you are saying.I dont know anything more than you. I have seen him sing 4 times, and was blown away each time.I heard the "Perry' sound but also heard more than that. All I can say is, go hear him sing live, that will say it all.As far as the rest of the band,{Journey] I dont like how they have handled things or treated so called friends.I love the music ,and Ive met a good guy that can sing Journey the way I like it. Ill support the music the way I like it. I know its all about me, but I am buying the fucking ticket lol Give it a chance, the music says it all.

Well horses for courses on this one.
Personally i think you have to stir you're own porridge. I'd be intrigued to hear what this guy sounds like but to me there is an honour and integrity issue.
If they come to the UK i wont be going to see them as i'm not prepared to condone their actions by handing them my money.

Yes. Really. I can. You can. He can. She can. Anyone can do an impression. I'm sure you've sung along as best you can many times.

What you've presumed and I have NOT is regarding the quality of the impression. I didn't say anything about "GOOD" impressions for the simple fact that good is subjective. What I think is good you might think is horrible and vice versa.

That wasn't even the point. What I'm talking about is doing an IMPRESSION rather than SINGING with your own voice. Did you NOT read my entire comment? I stated that I've heard J's SP impression and I've heard him sing Unchained Melody - NOT in an SP voice but in something much different. My question is: which voice is his?

Again, I don't see anything wrong with emulating certain inflections. But do it with YOUR voice. Otherwise, it's nothing more than a Rich Little job and while there's merit in that it's anything but SINGING.

Good point, Fyre. Is Jeremey's voice naturally similar to Perry's? Anyone ever heard an original song by him?

The reason I did the Steve Perry tribute show was because everything I'd ever done in my life was compared to Steve Perry. From Jesus Christ Superstar, to original singer/songwriter material, people told me it sounded like Steve Perry singing whatever it was I was working on. After reading reviews of original material I wrote in the late 90's being compared to "steve perry with an acoustic guitar and drum machine," I realized I would never be taken seriously on my own merit. I could alter my voice, and go with whatever sound may have been popular at the time, or just live with it. The "Unchained Melody" is a Bobby Hatfield impression from my impressions show, which incidentally went nowhere because everyone said all of my impressions sounded like Steve Perry doing whatever impression I was working up at the time. So that answers your question, hopefully. My voice is my voice is my voice. Maybe a little rhinoplasty would change that, but I don't know. If "anyone" could do a good Perry impersonation, mine would be a pretty crowded field, I would gather.

Hey man - No news that I can report...Sabrina and I had a great time but we are glad to be back in Virginia this week to get caught up. Can't really give any kind of "inside scoop" or anything, only that Journey will do what Journey needs to do in their own time. We had a great time though, and everyone was outstanding to us.

Thanks for the response!

I know from where you're coming. In my stage career (if you can call it that) I was compared to SP as well. When I was younger they said I looked a bit like Robert Redford, too! Yeah - right. I did 'Dracula' a few years ago and the opening music was Meatloaf's Bat Out Of Hell. I was on stage one rehearsal and just started clowning around with the song - everyone looked completely aghast and said I sounded just like Meatloaf! Whatever! When I was a kid I was a big fan of Rich Little and was always amazed by what he could do with his impressions. I suppose that rubbed off on me more than I knew.

It's because I know from where you're coming that I've been making certain comments. I would rather hear you sing with YOUR VOICE than hear your impression of SP. So do you have anything that is YOUR voice? I've only heard SP impressions. Or are you saying that your impressions are NOT impressions but rather they're really your voice?

I sing the Journey songs in Frontiers in my voice. I get flack from certain quarters because I don't do enough of a Perry impression, then there's those who like what I do because while my voice sounds like Perry, I'm not aping him down to the "captured" version or "houston 1981" version of what he does. I realize that IF I became the next singer of Journey I'd have to emphasize what makes me "me" less so than in my tribute show, but my voice is what it is... :D

Not that I matter but THAT is what I respect. I just hope that when you are the next singer (and I'm sure you will be) that you're permitted to explore YOU. I will cheer for YOU but I can't cheer for an impression.

We all know the old saying, "Be Good To Yourself". I believe in one that I feel is just as important: "Be true to yourself".

Let me just be clear that both them and management made it very clear that they don't want a "perry clone," I promise.

Yes...very like the FLTOSM/TBF era....Requiem is possibly the winning track for me so far...but I'm liking all four....

Thanks for posting this NIG....

And Jeremey - why oh why is this project on hold? This is MILES better than most of the melodic rock I've heard in the last few years.

Thanks, man!! Juhani, my Swedish writing partner, has a lot on his plate, and it is difficult to work over 10,000 miles on the internet and banter back and forth with ideas and such. The door is never closed though. Juhani is absolutely amazing.
