Nicely done, although I agree with Dean and the others. If you can put some feeling and passion into it, you would rock it! (and tell your wife to STOP singing in the video mic! lol)

I voted NO however JOURNEY would probably say YES considering that they appear to be looking for a Steve Perry sound-a-like/impersonator.

Personally, I can't stand the idea. It's HACK. It's NOT at all ART. Your impression is just that - an impression. Anyone can do an impression. I'm not impressed. The question is: can you sing?

If you're truly an artist then you'll understand the question.

The Garden of Eden can't be found on a map. It's not a geographical location. It's right where you are - if you're in the spirit.

I do understand... although I see it from another perspective... to me it does not make me less of a man, or less of a musician... simply becoming the voice of a project. Not everyone is a wizard with amazing writing and composing talent, however, partnered with other talented individuals (Jonathan Cain, Gregg Rolie, Neal Schon, etc.), AMAZING creations are born. There are VERY few artists that have created a lasting solo career that wrote AND performed there own music, and a lot of the ones you may think wrote their songs, really only own the 'rights' to the songs because they purchased them from the actual writers. I do hope someday to put my own 'voice' in the songs I sing, by writing or co-writing them... but that is my battle... my burden to bear... as I try to become a better musician.

Thank you for your point of view and your criticism... it makes me grow... invent... and achieve greater success.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that commented and voted...

Your criticisms, opinions, suggestions and such are instrumental in allowing me to analyze myself as a vocalist and find areas for improvement...

Again, many thanks!

Hey Ryan...I've missed this thread!
Great job! I'm listening to SW while typing and I must say you sound extremely close to Perry...Eerie. :o

Won't give you any advices as I'm sure that whatever improvements you need to make, they will have to happen whitin you, through feelings and ,of course,a lot of practice.
Your timbre is really special, tho. You are obviously a natural,I can't hear struggling. :)

You get a positive vote from me - considering the present situation in Journey,I guess you would have a chance to audition for them.
They might be looking for what you have. That's theoretically.
Practically,I think the lead singer's spot is already taken...

Anyway, the best of luck to you.I hope your voice will be heard on an album soon.

Thank you Laura!

The only thing better than constructive criticism is positive feedback! :)

It's empowering to hear that people enjoy the qualities of my voice and my wish is the same as yours... "I hope your voice will be heard on an album soon"...

Thank you for the compliments...

"Practically, I think the lead singer's spot is already taken..."

You may be right... as Jeremey just posted his recent successful audition with the band...

I wish him the BEST of LUCK (as I did on his 'Audition Post'), and hold NO hard feelings whatsoever...

I will have some more material for you to listen to sometime this week, as I just got done working up some other Journey hits in the studio last week...

Sincerely,

Yeah, what Lula said!

I don't have any insight for you though. We made a lot of smoke and fire here on the east coast and those guys came to me, so I guess the traditional channels of contacting Azoff, etc would be your best bet - I'm not sure they were conducting open auditions at the time...but Good luck!

Thanks for the advice Jeremey,

I've wanted to have an original act for the longest time... and you know as well as most vocalists know, it's just SO HARD to find GREAT instrumentalists with spirit, focus, devotion, loyalty, and commitment to original material. Put that on top of the fact that I have yet to unlock the 'mystery' of writing lyrics (versus longwinded pages of feeling and thought)... The golden decades of music from the 60,s, 70's, and 80's are LONG behind us... or maybe I'm just in the wrong part of the country...

Needless to say, I'll continue to play 'tribute' to one of my favorite bands in the meantime... :)

Thanks for the support!
