I was thinking the same thing....if you look at pics of him or even that guy Eddie Guerro early in their careers, both look like normal. Then they are making it big in the WWE and their veins are popping of their skin all over the place. Roids not only change your physical appearance, but mess with one's mental state as well.
One can't help but wonder..
Benoit has looked like this for a long while.
Here's a picture from 1999, when he was in WCW:

I always shake my head when someone, who didn't know the person except from the public image, says 'they seemed like such a nice/good person.
Excuse me as I jump around here with my thoughts...
Then we have Brad Delp, a man who sang about such positve things/things of hope was struggling so much.
We are learning what Journey is compared to the public image they show.
Maybe this can teach us all to help our children in not allowing them to look up to public figures so much because many times the image they show, is not who they are or how they feel. Let's not forget it's an IMAGE and let's not allow ourselves anymore or our children to get so wrapped up in fantasy land...'It's Just A Grand Illusion'
Many of these people who come acrossin a positive manner want to be an influence, but don't want to 'followed',because if you follow them, you are missing the point.
Enjoy what they create, enjoy what they do to entertain you, but don't get to wrapped up in trying to figure out who they really are. Many times those who create the most positive motivating things are going through hell.
Don't get consumed with the person, but let what they create or do inspire you. Or else, you or your children will be let down.

One source told TMZ that Benoit was texting friends during Sunday's WWE "Vengeance" Pay-Per-View program -- possibly watching the show with his son, who may have been alive at the time.
According to sources, Benoit then hanged himself Monday in a weight room inside the family home.
A police investigation is ongoing."

I had a grandfather shoot his grandson in the back of head while playing Nintendo and then himself because of "custody problems". The Grandfather died and the kid lived with some small systematic problems......Tradgic.
Also seen a few double murder, suicides over the days with families involved. Can't and will never understand. Could NEVER EVER hurt my kid. I feel bad when I throw the football too hard and it's hit's his chest wrong!!!!
My guess, Reports are he left the PPV in a hurry for a "Family Emergency".....My guess, they (Chris and his wife) were having marital problems or something to the extent and maybe his wife called and said she was bailing and taking the kid.....He went home with the mentality that if "HE" can't have him, "SHE" isn't going to have him and shot them all. That's is solely my two cents....
Mark Madden here in Pittburgh (former WCW host) who works for ESPN 1250 Radio is talking alot about the situation today on the radio and I have not heard anything that makes sense other than what I just said.....It really does seem the only possible explanation.....
RIP Chris and Family....Sorry you took the short cut Brother....

We'll have to coin a new term...Instead of saying someone went "postal", we'll say they went Canadian.

Don't think Saint John saw the humor in what I said.

Just so you know these people were my friends. While it is hard to fathom a murder/suicide (I can't even type it), it is still a horrible situation. While I cannot justify any of it,I hope this story puts into relevance the whole Journey/JSS situation. While it may have been horrible, imagine if your very close friend is dead and accused of killing a family you loved.
It makes music and management decisions look like a walk in the park.
Not taking away from JSS or what he is going through...just being real.
