Increased Radio Play?

Postby JourneySinger » Wed Jun 27, 2007 4:06 am

Has anyone else noticed the local radio stations in their area playing more 'Journey' songs recently?

Due to the Sopranos finale possibly?

Yes, I too, have noticed. I'm sure it's because of DSB being on the very last episode of that shitty show.

Not only have I noticed an increase, but the rock station here has been playing songs I've never heard them play before, like "Feeling That Way/Anytime" and "Stone In Love."

I've had to resort to the local classic rock radio station lately as my current ride has no CD player.

Since the finale, I've heard on the station:

"Don't Stop Believin" countless times
"Wheel in the Sky" twice
"Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" twice
"Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'"
"Any Way You Want It"

Yeah, sounds like usual radio fare for Journey, right?

I also heard:

"Feeling That Way/Anytime"
"Just the Same Way"
"Stone in Love"
"Escape"
"Somethin' to Hide"

And, here's the thing that really scrambled my sperm....

They played friggin' OF A LIFETME!!!!!!!!

And this was all while I was driving within the past couple weeks! It's been ridiculous, and awesome! I'm sure they've played tons more while I haven't been listening.

When I heard "Walks Like A Lady" I almost crashed my car...for 2 reasons. One, I had never heard that on the radio before, and b) I hate that fuckin' song. Totally gay.

You mean you don't like to hear Mr. Gregg Rolie on his Hammond B3 and Mr. Neal Schon on his Stratocaster Fleet?

Honestly, I'd rather hear Rolie sit on a plunger and Schon be tossed into a wood chipper, than hear that song.

The 'Feeling that Way' and 'Anytime' tracks were the two that surprised me! I was like... "Are they playing songs that don't feature Steve Perry as lead?" (i.e. - Gregg Rollie singing verses, etc.)...

It came as quite a shock!

 How can you possibly say that? The acting...the scripts...the cinematography....all stunning. I've just been though the entire run since '99 and I'm totally blown away. If you don't like the gangster genre, fine. But only a stone-cold moron would say it's a crap show.

Sorry dude, but I've never been impressed with gangbangers and their lifestyle. Furthermore, watching a show solely to get off on 5th grade urban dialect with an Italian-American twang isn't my cup of tea. I'd rather the "stabbing" and "whacking" be real. Hence, I'm a Journey fan.

For the record, I'd rather watch Baby-Bop fuck Barney in his ass with a 4 foot strap-on than watch The Sopranos. That show simply sucked.

Come on Saint John. How many episodes of this show have you actually watched? Maybe twenty minutes of one of them?

Honestly...you hit the EXACT number on the head. Other than a minute here and there, I can't stomach the show. Watched the final 30 minutes of the lsat show. It was ridiculous.

No, those 30 minutes didn't represent the show at it's best. But it seems to me you actually detest a vision of the show you have in your mind but which doesn't actually exist. From what you're saying it's like some Italian-American version of some pathetic hip-hop video which asks us to admire all the ridiculous gang-banger posturing and buy into the lifestyle. When in reality the Sopranos portrays the Mafia in a bleak, absurd and low-rent way.

Oh...anyway...I'm a total Sopranos bore at the moment....so I'll shut up about it. Do you like the Godfather, Saint John? Or does the whole genre leave you unmoved?

I get the feeling that the only movement he gets with these kinds of shows is the kind that has him sitting on the toilet, pushing out a big one.

I'm hearing a lot of Journey on XM Radio these days. In fact, I heard them 3 times this evening within a 10 minute span (different stations).

Sirius 15 plays all 3 of those a LOT, actually, and long before the Sopranos thing too.
They play Party's Over too, which shocked me when I got satellite radio.
Before that all I ever heard on regular radio were the same, 3 or 4 songs.

I don't know about regular radio or what they're playing now, since I don't listen to it much.
Big 80s (Sirius 8 ) plays DSB and Who's Crying Now ad nauseum.
I haven't listened to that channel much lately but I bet they're playing DSB a lot more (if that's even possible...LOL).
