Journey motorcycle -- 30-year anniversary

Postby separate_wayz » Fri Jun 29, 2007 2:04 am

I've got an opportunity to buy the Journey motorcycle from the 2005 tour, the one that was raffled-off for charity. This is the one that was built by Arlen Ness and has all the album artwork from Journey thru Generations. It's also signed by Schon, Cain, Valory, Augeri, Castronovo.

What would you say is the market value of this bike?

(Gee .... I wonder if this thread will invite 1,001 sarcastic comments of all varieties!)

The fact that Arlen Ness built it will have more credibility among bike enthusiasts than the attachment to Journey. Depends on how good the artwork is, but it could fetch a pretty penny just having Ness' name associated with it.

I honestly like this bike more than the one they raffled off in 2006 with Def Leppard. Here's a couple more photos ....

Sweet bike, would you ride it or mostly for collecting reasons?
Sweeter if Perry's name was on there too.

I thought that if I bought it, I'd make an effort to get Steve Smith's and Steve Perry's names added to it. I mean, how many of those albums airbrushed on the bike are the result in part of their contributions?

I'm torn whether I would ride it or just store it -- and that's probably why I haven't made any effort to get it yet. Seems almost like a waste to have a bike like that and never ride it. But, if I rode it, I think some of that artwork would get dinged-up in no time.

Maybe I'll just ride it in parades for 12 miles a year, with Don't Stop Believin blaring in the background, recruiting throngs of casual fans to their next tour, as fez-wearing Shriners on mini-bikes do figure-eights around me .....
