I'm still voting for a woman, Patricia in NEXX:

She does it better than ALL the guys, except Mr. Perry himself.

Sorry, but she's no game.

I wish I had a tape of my band when our singer is doing a Journey song.

She BURIES this chick. Accent and all. ;)

Sounds really good... my question would be can he write too?
I am impressed w/ Jeremey's writting on his original work. Like I have said before (and will no doubt say again)
I am not interested in a Journey tribute band, I need new music before I will even think about spending $$ on this band again.

They are NOT going to release any new music. REPEAT: THEY ARE NOT GOING TO RELEASE ANY NEW MUSIC.

They jumped that ship when they canned JSS.

When are people going to realize that it is the Dirty Dozen now......?

Both Steve A. and JSS weren't allowed to write for the band, as far as I know. At least, in the early stages of their careers with them.

The songwriting skills of this guy are awesome (and so is his guitar playing), but he leans towards the VERY progressive vein (a la Dream theater).

I'd already posted several youtube links of this guys at BT. But of course, this was when all the peeps there were INFATUATED with JSS.

I'm sure some band members take an occasional peek here, so if they really want it, they can always PM me. 8)

This guy used to sing in my band some time ago, and we still keep in touch. :)

Best Journey tribute singer I've heard so far, too. The band sounds great, the tempos are dead on.

He has his "own" voice and sound, and doesn't try to mimic SP's stage moves and gestures.

He does need to to lose the accent in Separate Ways, though...

He's ok, can hear his accent through it all...There was another guy, (also from Spain??), that did Lights, he was frighteningly awesome.

That has been one of the things that kept them down w/o Perry is input from the man SINGING the songs... IMO the person singing should always have their hand in the song writing process, otherwise it is not heartfelt.

Just my opinion yours will no doubt vary.

Ok from what I'm reading this wont be popular in this thread but if u want to put this guy up for Journey, here goes. Sorry this guy is ok for a bar band but he lacks the ability to sustain a note, he strains on the high notes, & he hits many high notes sharp. He has a nice ability to add a little melisma into some notes he obviously knows he cant get to but he needs to work on that rather than totally blow the note. Perry was a master live at mixing it up & not necessarily taking the high note but changing it up so u didnt realize it. This guy should check out Perry live & keep working on that technique. U dont always have to do it note perfect to the studio version to sound great.

For example on SW some of his "vain"s & "love"s are painful. He really needs to work on his breathing. He sounds very out of breath at times on SW. When he gets to "how we touched & went out separate ways" he is completely out of breath & barely gets "ways" out at all. Listen to how he butchers "love" on "I still love u girl" close to the end. His final "love" starts out bad, then he manages to cut away to some power in his lungs & gets right on it.

His Mother Father starts out pretty good till he gets to the high in "believin'" then the chorus is off & he's straining for those highs. He's doing what many singers do, using too much air, so they come out weak, not strong. (Might be hard for others to hear b/c of the awful backing vox there.) Listen to "photograph" in the next verse. The first syllable "pho" is very tough for him. He's killing himself when he gets to "yesterdays" & I sit here cringing worrying about his cords right at that point. Ouch. The strain shows when he goes to the next chorus which is MUCH worse than the 1st time he sang it & he's waaaay off on "Don't u know that I'm..." etc. The next time it hurts even more. His wailing at the end is very painful for my ears. This is a song he just should NOT attempt. (Then again, most people shouldnt). I give him MAJOR kudos for trying.

ATL is good in the beginning but again, he starts to strain w/his breathing pretty quickly. By 1:40, he's struggling. The chorus thereafter shows it as he really reaches. He recovers very well after that & the rest of the song is MUCH better. Towards the end, he's VERY impressive w/his big "looooonely".

I hope I havent slammed him too much & been unfair. U asked so I answered. These are FUCKING hard songs to sing which I wouldnt even attempt b/c I KNOW I can't do it. W/better breathing techniques & a little training, he could be MUCH better. Or perhaps this was a bad nite for his voice.

Are you sure it isn't because he isn't a FEMALE?

'Cause you seem too demanding and yet give your full support to a sub par female singer in a band.

To my ears, this guy could give JSS a run for his money and of course BURIES Steve A. :)

I'm positive. I like Patricia's voice b/c she doesnt have those problems. Me saying a woman should get the job was a joke. Dont get so defensive. Are u him that it upsets u so much? Sheesh it's constructive criticism. I've been known to critique Jeff & Augeri in the same way. My hearing is pitch perfect unfortunately so I hear EVERYTHING. Jeff's voice has a LOT of incredible strength & is even more powerful on his own stuff. This guy would have a tough time up against Jeff. Steve A. strained a lot live doing Journey but he had some nice tonal qualities, I have to admit. On some of his own stuff, he's great. I'd like to hear this guy on his originals.

To be fair, other than Perry in his prime, so did the other Journey singers at some point, whether sharp or flat.

I like a few mistakes here and there - it's live! Otherwise I'd listen to studio CDs.

U put him up for Journey & stated ur opinion. Why is is "over-criticizing" for me to state mine? Kinda unfair of u isnt it? He's not perfect I'm sure he'd admit that. I dont know why I bother when there are ignorant people like u who think it's ok for u to give ur opinion, but that's the ONLY opinion allowed. Next time be sure to say that NO opinions other than urs are allowed in ur thread & good luck w/that, ok!

I already said I wouldn't even attempt to sing Journey songs. What a stupid comeback!
