I agree. However I have to say the 2nd nite I saw Jeff w/Journey (last Nov) he was perfect. Maybe one note in DSB but even that's a maybe. I was blown away by him that nite. He hit 'em all & he rocked the freaking house.
The only reason I critiqued this is b/c this guy seemed to think he was better than Jeff & ideal for Journey.
JR (Susie) wrote:
U put him up for Journey & stated ur opinion. Why is is "over-criticizing" for me to state mine? Kinda unfair of u isnt it? He's not perfect I'm sure he'd admit that. I dont know why I bother when there are ignorant people like u who think it's ok for u to give ur opinion, but that's the ONLY opinion allowed. Next time be sure to say that NO opinions other than urs are allowed in ur thread & good luck w/that, ok!
I already said I wouldn't even attempt to sing Journey songs. What a stupid comeback!
Món wrote:If your opinion is that he's not right for the band, that's OK.
You took the guy's performance on a VERY difficult song (that your average Joe would NEVER sing like this) and tore it apart.
The guy's not perfect by any means, but he's VERY GOOD.
If you think that chick's performance is better than his, that's YOUR opinion (which I DO NOT share). Besides, SW is a walk in the park, compared to MF. But I guess you already knew that, having perfect pitch.
The origin of this thread is giving another option for the band. And yes, I do think this guy could do the job, with proper training and such.
Must be that time of the month for you.[/b]
Oh so u are allowing me to HAVE an opinion now?
Read it again. I critiqued ALL 3 of his songs u posted & I said that most people should NEVER try Mother, Father. I also gave him MAJOR kudos for trying it.
Read it again. I said that as well. But b/c I said a few other things, it wasn't good enough for u. Was I supposed to come in here, lie & say he's totally perfect? Well sorry. I very nicely & constructively critiqued the performance in an intelligent way. I praised as many points as I criticized. Why can u not accept that? I have a hard time believing that a singer wouldnt accept such a critique himself. Are u sure he wants u & this kind of behavior representing him on this board?
Then we agree. Wow. But I think the band has their "option" already well squared away.
Sorry I dont have those anymore. I had a hysterectomy last yr due to cancer. Try again.
BTW, thats a very touchy subject for me as I've had a really tough time w/my health & it means I can never have kids. Maybe u should exercise just a little more discretion w/ur insults next time to women. They might be in a similar position & u might be tearing them to the core. I critiqued that singer constructively. I didnt stoop down to this level of insulting u or him.
Man I wish they would reopen BT. This is really getting ridiculous. It's invasion of the BTers around here.

'Cause you seem too demanding and yet give your full support to a sub par female singer in a band.

I'm torn. I love Jeremey's voice. But Juan puts so much into it & he's always smiling & just so full of energy. I hope to go see those guys soon as I'll be spending a bit of time in Ca. I bet it's a blast.

With all due respect, I must disagree. This Castillo guy sings great, but his voice is too airy for my taste. Jeremey's voice is all voice.

Define "airy". Doesn't make sense to me.

A softer less pronounced vocal, pushing more air than voice.

Rick wrote:Hugo's voice is all head voice, so there's actually less air being pushed, and as was said in another thread, that's hard on the vocal cords, his voice is just weak compared to Hunsicker or Castillo because he isn't singing from his diaphragm.
How do you know if your singing in Head or Chest Voice?
Place your fingers on your breast bone and then sing a few notes from the bottom end of your range, you should be able to feel the vibration in your chest through your fingers, if you don't feel anything try belting 'Hello' - if your singing in chest voice you should feel something there. If you are singing in your head voice, you should feel the vibrations somewhere in the region of your teeth/lips, cheekbones, nasal cavity, or forehead.

JR (Susie) wrote:That's incorrect. Hugo does not always sing in "head voice". He uses "chest voice" very well. Here, for example:

Whomever posted that statement obviously doesnt understand the "voices" a person has. The difference between "head" & "chest" is where they resonate & how the cords adduct, not where ur singing from. Here's a good definition:How do you know if your singing in Head or Chest Voice?

I guess Juan might be more like a young Perry of the 70s. Whereas Jeremey is more like an 80s Perry. U think that's a fair comparison?
Rick wrote:He's not singing from his diaphragm in that clip. It's either his head voice or a falsetto. His teeth are definitely vibrating.
