I DON'T THINK JSS BELONGED IN JOURNEY IN THE FIRST PLACE....

Postby Món » Fri Jun 29, 2007 1:30 pm

Now that Jeff parted ways with them, I hope the best for him and his new projects, 'cause the guy sure deserves it.

Granted. The guy's an EXCELLENT frontman.

He has voice and energy to spare.

I've heard that he's te kindest soul around, too.

My personal thoughts on this are that he just didn't sound...."right". He didn't look right either.

Journey is not Soul Sirkus, although Neal has tried to turn it onto a proto-metal entity (just listen to Generations). Unsuccessfully, thank God.

Perhaps this is why he was let go in the first place. In a truly shitty, class-less fashion, that is.

Any thoughts? :)

I agree with everything except that he didn't fit. I so much enjoyed him in Journey. I thought he did a fantastic job. He gave that band something they hadn't seen in ages, energy. A great singer, a great crowd pleaser, and a great human being. I can't think of anyone else I would rather have except Perry. My third choice is Hunsicker.

Jeff was the only chance they had since Perry left. But clear thinking will never be associated with Journey since Perry left. I think that is because they don't plan or think past today and that they react instead of act. They live in the minute. It is just astounding for their age.

Jeff would have ROCKED Journey! Instead, Journey crawled back under a rock.

I didn't say he looked BAD. I said he didn't look RIGHT.

Something about his style that didn't fit the whole Journey image.

I've seen videos of him fronting his solo band and Talisman, and that's a whole different story, of course. :)

Soto ATW - I was thinking that 2 days ago,but they really only take silliness to new levels. Jeff was Journey's best/only chance to move beyond Perry. IMO Journey is the true "Band on the Run "and BT could not be referreed in our lifetime. How I would love to see it though, as sort of a spectator sport.

I'm sorry. I just don't get why the fuck someone's NOT allowed to give a PERSONAL opinion on something.

You guys are acting like someone died.

I'm not trying to disrespect anybody with my statements, yet you seem to condone bigotry towards noobs.

It would seem you guys just read the title of the thread and proceed to bash the originator without even reading what he has to say.

On the other hand, this Crazie Scarab guy was all straight and polite over at BT, hence my comment.

In the eyes of some, this band HAS died.

Now show a little respect here please. You are NEW here. You should take a look around and see what's what....opinions are MORE than wlecome, hell, everyone here as at least 10.

I'm gonna get flamed for this just as much as you did, but I happen to agree with you. I think JSS sang the GH album very well. He's got a great voice, far better that Augeri's, and I never needed a vocalist to be a Perry sound a like to enjoy the melodies and soaring feeling from the songs in their catalogue. The singer just needs to have sophisticated chords capable of doing the songs justice (John West comes to mind, he could have pulled it off very well).

My thoughts were and always will be about new material.

I'm not the kind of fan who's satisfied with going to see a greatest hits tour year after year. I want new material from my favorite musicians. I want 'the Journey' to continue.

With that in mind, I never thought Neal and JSS had chemistry. Both are accomplished and talented musicians, but they mix musically like oil and water. JSS simply wasn't the guy. That being said, I think the way Neal and Jon went about this was crappy and hypocritical. If they had any misgivings about JSS as the permanent lead singer of Journey, they shouldn't have offered it to him in the first place.

I wish Jeff all the best and look forward to what he puts out on his own and I hope Neal and Jon find a singer who can originate material worthy of the band's name.

Rick, and you would be wrong......I never bowed to the 'wiggler' mentality. I posted my opinons in a NON PC manner.....and some didn't like it. I don't start shit for the sake of starting shit. If I have a dissenting opinion(which is MOST of the time, because I'm not a conformist/kiss ass), I voice it.....I'm by no means an expert on Journey. Just been a fan for a long time. Like all you guys/gals.

i never accepted SA, and people didn't like that over there. Although I did buy Arrival: domestic and import.

My tone pushes people away, I'm sorry. That's me. I'm editorial in my writing. With an edge.

I don't change for anybody.....I'm the same as I was over there......just not as quick to dismiss someone who insults me.

It is the mob mentality that irks me. Its like I've invaded your home.

Anyway, I post the same as i did in BT.....

enjoy the remainder of your evening/day, whichever the case may be....:0

Journey is not Soul Sirkus, although Neal has tried to turn it onto a proto-metal entity (just listen to Generations). Unsuccessfully, thank God.

Perhaps this is why he was let go in the first place. In a truly shitty, class-less fashion, that is.

Jeff was just beginning to find his comfort zone when he was unceremoniuosly dumped. This would be a better argument if they had given him the chance to at least do an album and try out some new material and see how reaction to a new album with him might be, but they didn't. How can you 'fit in' anywhere when you aren't even given the chance?? And please explain "he just didn't sound...."right". He didn't look right either." :?: :!: :?:

Its like I've invaded your home.

Not to jump on something you have said again - but this point should be highlighted - this IS a home. It is a home to a great many like-minded folks and they love hanging out here and I enjoy having folks hang out here. This is my home too.

All I am asking is that new users show a little courtesy and respect in this place, especially to those that have been here a long long time.

Andrew, I totally understand that. And I really can't defend that without others adding fuel.

I will say that from day one/my first post - I've been catching shit from people.

Because I asked something that had already been covered.....

I'll tell you this, though....Just an FYI. I have OVER 30,000 posts in another forum I've been on since 2000. And I have NEVER treated a newb like they are treated here.

I understand that I joined at the exact moment the shite went down. Not my fault.

Just think of me as that weird uncle you only see at weddings....
