I would like to ask all new posters how they discovered MR? Oh also, what they think of the content & most importantly Andrew and his new personality on the front page? Seems like more and more newbies recently. Why? You will love it here !

It's because journeymusic.com shut down all operations except the store. BT included.

The real question is, why did they really shut down their site?

current members? its really nice when the current members pay respect to the folks that helped them
get to where they are now.. , the official site is embarrassing, wonder why?hmmmmmm...

there are no other active forums around discussing my favorite band. back talk was hard to get into and it is closed down. i enjoy the music and am here to discuss my shared interest with the world, plus the Castles Burning Herbie Herbert interview was fascinating. Very prophetic imho.

Maybe because they knew that people would be mad about the latest fiasco, and they can't take the fans anger.

Well, I discovered it about a year or so ago after Joe Elliott ranted about Andrew's early review of Yeah! But, the way I figure, I'm friends with lots of people who otherwise don't get along, so...

I didn't register until after BT went south, but it wasn't so I could post in the Journey forum. I actually posted in the Rush forum first :D

Toto's site, www.toto99.com, does a good job of giving history and information about past members.

Kept seeing the MelodicRock site URL whenever I was looking for anything related to JSS or Journey onlline. I lurked for a good while before signing up so I could get a general sense of the board. I love it here. It's my little getaway from the day's mediocrity. Love the MelodicRock site, too. Lot's of goodies to be found on there!

I'm a regular reader of MR.com and when I saw the news posted that JSS was no longer lead singer for Journey (my favorite band of all time), I popped in here to see if there was any other news about the subject. Saw all the anger being posted and opted, in a few instances, to post my own views on subjects raised.

Right. Just giving an example. I can understand a band of high school students having a crappy website. A band that has sold 65 million units it seems ought to have a pretty detailed site. Do you think it has to do with contractual agreements with former members, Sony, etc.? that keeps it so basic?

Although a longtime Journey fan, I found the BT forums filled with posts that were too sycophant for me. I had to shut off regular email from the Yahoo list because not a lot of the discussion really interested me, although it's a better place. But what really got me off my duff was the firing of Jeff Scott Soto. Research led me to this place.

I first became a huge fan of Soto's in the early 1990s when I started up my Yngwie "J" Malmsteen record collection and have been following him all the way through to Takara, Talisman and Soul SirkUS and many other records. For many months I looked forward to the prospect of either seeing the Soto Journey lineup live or through a new studio album. I have listened with much pleasure the many Soto-led Journey songs on Youtube including gems they have never or rarely recorded live. One could believe again.

Anyway, Soto got screwed in the worst possible way, and I'm now boycotting this band. And I'll re-iterate.

Anybody self-respecting Journey fan who economically supports the "new" Journey is an accessory after the fact in the firing of Jeff Scott Soto, and aiding and abetting the self-destruction of Journey at the hands of Darth Cain and Emperor Schon.

The party's over.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if 99% of the people here who've sworn off suporting the band by either not buying future albums or going to concerts will end up doing so.

Being totally honest. I hate the band.

Will I go to 1 show and support Jeremey, who I know - probably - if he gets the gig. He's a great guy and I only want the best for him.

However, another person who I consider a friend got fucking knifed in the back, and I can never forget or forgive that as a fan of the music. That dude put himself out for so many of us, and it won't be forgotten.

Make sense?

No need for the last, snotty reply. Hopefully, I'm just misinterpreting here. Anyway, I'm not saying what should happen. I'm saying what will PROBABLY happen. Honestly, I can't see myself going to another show. If they ever come out with new material, I will probably buy it because of Jeremey if he gets the gig. That's about it.

i think its simple , the band just doesnt want to deal with the negative feedback,, but sony may be torturing them some,, when JEFF first joined, OR WAS ASKED to join and become a member,  , he created a killer myspace for the band,, it was gone with in a week,, NO POSITIVE promotion of this once known killer band.. and for heavens sake,, keep moving forward , the past is the past,, weve grown since then .. This one is just waaaay to easy. For a lot of these newbies, they found their way here when someone left the backtalk fat farm gate open. I was online when it happened. I looked at my drink on the computer table, the liquid started moving inside the glass from the incoming wildebeast stampede. As they got closer my drink began spilling over the sides of my glass onto my keyboard from all of the hooves hitting the ground at once. That's how lots of these newbies got here. Not all but a lot. I'm hoping someone over at the official journey website rings the dinner bell soon so we can get back to normal here.

I'm part of the 1% who has seen all the dirty dozen songs played over and over and over again. I'm done! I will not spend another dime on Journey as I believe they are stuck in a rut. They have come to the conclusion that they are unable to get past Steve Perry. And, they're probably right, as they haven't the balls to move forward.
