Super-voice for Journey?

Postby mick » Wed Jul 04, 2007 6:33 am

First of all I would like to send good vibes to JSS & SA. At first I was a little skeptical about JSS being the new singer because I was used to hearing that SP/SA vocal style on the old stuff. But when I heard Winds Of Freedom I really liked it and was looking forward to hearing the new music that he was writing with the band. He is a very talented vocalist and songwriter. If anyone wants to hear him sing a song called Story Of Love, it is on a release by Ken Tamplin called Wake The Nations. With all that said I wish you well JSS. I too like everyone else am upset with the way they treated you. I am also upset with the way they treated SA. Like him or not , I'm not sure anyone would have been interested in listening to Journey again if he wasn't the man they hired when they reformed, unless it was SP of course. Steve A, thanks for your contributions to the band & the great shows I saw. I can't wait to hear the new tunes you're working on. As for SP, I never had the good fortune of seeing him live as I did JSS & SA. While I would prefer that SP return to the band for one last hoorah, I seriously doubt that will happen. So Neal & Jonathan, I think you need to give this guy a shot. He has a great, smooth voice for ballads, can rip up the rockers, is a great songwriter with a remarkable sense of melody, has tons of experience and naturally has the range, power and clarity to endure the Journey catalog without being an SP clone. His name is Tony Harnell. What do you think?

Tony Harnell is formerly of TNT. Their album "Intuition" is still one of my favorite melodic releases of all time.

Great singer.... unfortunately JC pretty much narrowed the field with his "preserving the legacy" statement.... means we're gonna hear a choir-boy tenor....

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

It's the vocals on the song End Of The Line that make me think he would be a really cool fit in Journey. He is also quoted in his wikipedia profile as having SP as one of his influences.
