Now it seems there could actually be the possibility of the potential for some forthcoming VH news as the official website offers a newsletter mailing list (again - as the old list was "deleted [by] Microsoft")...

Thanks for the heads-up, VH101.

I just wish they had done this sooner. It would have been so much easier to keep up with all the VH happenings over the last couple of years. Just think; we could have been notified by email when… uh, well, there was… um, okay but there was that thing where…

Huh.

Well, hopefully you're right and they'll have a reason for a newsletter before too long.

I like this line from their site:

If you have registered for our newsletters in the past, please re-register your information, as Microsoft has deleted our database.

LOL! Microsoft doesn't delete anyone's database. The only people who have access to your database is you, your webmaster, and your web host. Sounds like someone is covering their rear and blaming it on Bill Gates.

Maybe they are saying that it was a MicroSoft related event that lead to it. In either case, people do not need to know specifics. If I were a marketing person, I would not want a war with MS.

Yes, but Wolfie is still in the mix. :?

For those that missed it:

VAN HALEN LOOKING AT 2007 LIVE DATES:
So, the word has started to leak...Van Halen are setting up a tour for 2007 and should everything fall into place it will start sooner rather than later. David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Wolfgang Van Halen have gotten together and parties involved in all aspects of the Van Halen machine are mobilizing to get this tour set up. I can confirm dates and venues are being penciled in. There isn't much more I can say at this time, but safe to say should everything go to plan (and we all know how things can change with these guys), the band should hit the road for US dates starting in September.

The Wolfie thing is either
1) disapointing or
2) nothing on MA's been verified, confirmed, or denied so the source just for completism's sake ran with the Wolfie on base premise.

To me, the kid spoke his mind when the old man was in the dryout tank and came across relieved that he was not going to be VH's bassist.

But if Edward STILL did not forgive/make ammends w/ MA then the rehab did not take and his sponsors are doing a shitty job in the coaching-him-to-heal-wounds aspect of recovery.

Think they'll use tapes of Michael Anthony's backing vox on tour. His voice is very good and distinctive. Wonder if they could legally do this if they wanted?

Ummm...I'm reasonably sure they could do that, given that they wrote and recorded the music.

Well, hopefully with with MA since Billy Sheehan and Wolfgang dont wanna part of this. After all the bs we the fans we have gotten, we deserve the original lineup, and a new album.

If nothing else, I still think the promoters and the bean counters who fork over the cash to the band will make MA happen.

They will want to promote it as The Original VH, The 1984 Linuep, etc and they cannot legally do that unless MA's in the fold.

They'll probly be able to force that issue, the days of Edward being able to diva it into his way are gone.

Yeah, they will probably try to force Ed's hand, but would you rather have a happy, energized Eddie on tour with his son, or a pissed off Eddie who has to be around MA and DLR? I am starting to think maybe having Wolfie in the band is a good thing, and will spark Eddie's creative juices, based on the way he glows when he talks about his kid.

If he's pissed because he would have to be around Michael Anthony, I don't know if I'd care what "Van Halen" did at all.

I mean come on! What did he really do other than tour with Sammy and keep some great VH songs alive? He soldiered it out when the VanParanoids did not let him play bass on BOBW....

Cut the guy a break already, I also think unless he can't move on from that MA pettiness that the alcoholism will come right back.

I doubt Michael Anthony will ever jam with Eddie again after the way he got dissed. At least not unless there was a sellout tour on the horizon. Money has a way of helping people overcome past disagreements.

Mike is faithfully at Sammy's side. It doesn't seem possible for him to do a tour with both VH and Sam this fall.

A little more "news"...

Reunited Van Halen Eyeing Fall Arena Run
David Lee Roth

July 03, 2007, 10:00 AM ET

Ray Waddell, Nashville
A proposed summer amphitheater tour by a reunited Van Halen that was derailed when guitarist Eddie Van Halen checked into rehab now looks like it may be resurrected as a fall arena run. Several arena holds are in place in major markets for potential Van Halen dates, Billboard.com has learned.

The tour, negotiations for which were first tipped here on Jan. 24, would feature David Lee Roth, Eddie and Alex Van Halen and Eddie Van Halen's teenage son Wolfgang on bass.

Wheels had been in motion for a 40-date, Live Nation-produced amphitheater tour, with original frontman Roth back in the fold for the first time in more than 20 years. Van Halen last toured in 2004 with vocalist Sammy Hagar, grossing nearly $40 million, according to Billboard Boxscore.

But the reunion never got off the ground, and Eddie Van Halen entered a rehabilitation facility for undisclosed reasons in March. In the months since, the artist has been seen publicly looking healthy and fit.

The buzz surrounding the prospect of a Van Halen tour with Roth seems to point toward a successful trek. "I see it absolutely as an inevitability," Roth told Billboard.com more than a year ago regarding a tour with his ex-bandmates. "To me, it's not rocket surgery. It's very simple to put together. And as far as hurt feelings and water under the dam, like what's-her-name says to what's-her-name at the end of the movie 'Chicago' -- 'So what? It's showbiz!'"

Dave is the man. :D

He's so alive. We should all learn a lesson from his approach to life.

Good for Mikey. One of the great guys in rock and roll. If he has the chance to tour, and turns it down because he already gave Sammy his word, all the more.

Can we camp out for seven days in front of the ticket office like back in the 80's?

Most of the hardcore Van Halen fans that I know who would have attended this concert have now placed it in the joke category and will not be attending. I just don't see this thing getting off the ground, especially not without Michael Anthony onboard. They can put out all the press leaks they want, but the bottom line will be if they can find a promoter who is willing to roll the dice on this tour. My guess is that no one will be willing to gamble on it.

LOL.....Van Halen is a joke nowadays. I'd rather go back and listen to every album from all the lineups and remember them for what they were. A great rock and roll band. Not this crap Eddie and Alex are trying to cram down our throats.

I wouldnt camp out for tickets for this tour, but I'd camp out in front of Eddie's house just so I could kick him in the nuts and smack some sense in him.
