I have 2 better versions of that tune for ya... The first version is Streets. It was basically Mike Slamer and Steve Walsh from Kansas on vocals. It was on their 1st album around 1983. Mike Slamer did various projects throughout his career and later in the 90's, he formed Steelhouse Lane and redid 2 songs that originally appeared on the 2 Streets albums.

Don't forget Billy Greer on bass also. Billy, of course, went with Walsh when he rejoined Kansas for the "Power" album in '86 and he's been a Kansas member ever since. Greer has also done two pretty good albums with Slamer in the band Seventh Key.

Streets should've been a much more successfuly band. They were one of the better AOR bands but just never did hit it big for some reason. Walsh was still at the top of his game as a singer then, too, before his voice really deteriorated towards the end of the 80s.

Mike Slamer was/is an excellent guitarist as well.

Pete's first album was "God Fixation", wasn't it? I was really bummed at the time that Bob Hartman wasn't in the band anymore but concentrating on just writing songs and managing the band. It was cool that he and John Schlitt got back together to do the "Jekyll & Hyde" album and the final tour, though.

Anyway, I can't comment on Orta's playing but I've always really enjoyed Hartman's playing, though. He's one of my favorite players and he's one of my favorite songwriters also.

Gosh, I hope it wasn't the guys in Petra that soured him on the Christian music biz. I know there are lots of musicians that get soured on it because, unfortunately with a lot of major labels now owning the Christian labels now, the message gets watered down more and I'm sure the people you have to deal with aren't always the best people to be around.

Some of the artists are seeing the hypocrisy, too. I am a bit soured on it myself.

That is hilarious. A buddy of mine here in Indiana is from up state NY where Benny is from. My buddy mentioned a few months ago that he thought Benny sounded a lot like Perry after he figured out I was a Journey fan. I never made that connection until then but the guy is good. It would be intesting to here him rip a few Journey songs.
