This attorney you are referring to, is this the same one that advised the band to go ahead and lip sync "no one will ever find out" and that it's legal to falsely advertise a "Live" concert knowing full well that you're using tapes Great counsel. He should currently be out of work too.

One would hope that he thought of going to an outside attorney... bottom line is, he made a choice, the band made a choice.

Your right there. He made a choice, and the Band made a choice. Yet HE seems to be the only one being held to a different set of standards here. That's been my point from the word go.

I agree, I love most of the Mel Brooks films. Blazing Saddles, History of the World, High Anxiety, Silent Movie, those are classics. I couldn't stand Space Balls though.

Yes he deserves some of the blame, but (and I can't prove this) if he was TOLD he was gonna use tapes or be fired, what choice did the guy have?

You raving fuckheads are willing to give Fro and Friga a pass on duping you out of your hard earned money with lipsynched concerts but not for the sneaky underhanded shit they just pulled on JSS. Get your fucking heads out of your asses and think realistically for once.

Oh and sorry Mon, I wasn't coming back in your thread but stupidity necessitated it. :D

I agree with you on one point... we did kinda 'overlook' Friga & the Fro's involvement in tapegate. I wasn't around when all that first went down, I didn't come here until late September I think. But, from what I have gathered, most people were willing to accept what they said (or didn't say  ) because they were so excited about a resurgence with JSS at the helm. Now that that's gone, we find ourselves taking another look at the situation, and DO see that "yep, they're just greedy assholes who would sell their mother for a buck" and tend to cut some slack to SA in the whole debacle.

BUT... the fact remains that Steve Augeri was the one out front, passing his pre-recorded vocals for live ones. There were ABSOLUTELY more people involved in this than just him, but at the end of the day he was the one holding the microphone. I don't know why he did it, if it was for financial, legal or personal reasons. But I, for one, cannot and will not give him a pass just because Frick & Frack pissed on Jeff. I think that's hypocritical, and I just can't do it.

Never said he deserves a pass for it. All I'm saying is that he wasn't alone and the rest of the guilty washed their hands of him and tossed him out in public as the lone gunman if you will.

I never blamed him exclusively for the tapes. I know that the rest of them were just guilty as of allowing the deception as he was. I didn't really try to hold anyone accountable. However, as TNC has explained many times, it was ultimately Augeri's responsibility to refuse to fake it because it was his voice that wasn't cutting it.

As a matter of fact, I was calling for them to end Journey when tapegate first started. I changed my mind when Jeff joined because I saw it as a possible way for them to regain a little dignity and credibility rather than going out on the heels of a scandal.

Regardless of how much of the responsibility must be shared by all of them though, what I don't understand is how Augeri can be any less responsible for it now than he was then just because more people are pissed at the rest of them now.

Reminds me of when I was young, the things my father used to say to me.

What did he say?

What the hell are you doing in the bathroom day and night? Why don't you get out and give someone else a chance?

If it's all because Neal wanted to be the star of the show, then why did the band continue to exercise its right to be Journey? After all if according to some popular schools of thought Journey was and remains ALL about perry and his singing, I'da thought that if the choice of Augeri was all driven by Neal's ego, he'd've opted to call in "Neal Schon's Journey," "Journey Featuring Neal Schon" or "Neal Schon's Group."

But why choose to be part of the same outfit that you were jelous because you never became known in? :?
