MLB All-Star Game and "Faith in the Heartland"

Did anyone else notice that, during the fly-over, they were playing the opening 30 seconds or so of "Faith in the Heartland"?

I couldn't believe they used it since it's not well-known at all. Unfortunately, those of us here are probably the only ones who noticed it.

They played about 5 seconds of "Lights" during a SF Bay shot.

That song sucks. The vocals are garbage, no catchy hooks and the chorus sucks.

Very serious. That is one of the worst vocal performances I've ever heard as it pertains to production quality. Muddled garbage. That song is all over the place. That whole album should be defaulted from the Journey catalog. At the very least an asterisk is order next to *Generations.

I disagree. The song is catchy for me and I really like the chorus. The intro and outro both provide electric live performance. I think Generations has some great songs on it.

You must be nuts. No catchy hooks? The main melody is extremely catchy and the chorus is one of the bigger and better ones in the Augeri era. It's the best song on the album.

Being big in the Augeri era isn't gonna win many arguments. Anyway, growing up I knew virtually every word to every song without having ever read liner notes for the lyrics. Then came Augeri. Arrival stuck to that theme for the most part. Then came Red 13 and Generations, two atrocious works by a band who has proven that their time has seemingly ended.

I can't completely disagree with that statement but "Faith in the Heartland" isn't an example of that. It stands out big time on that album, along with only a couple of other songs.

FITH one of the best vocals Augeri recorded.

I have heard parts of the song on NFL broadcasts too.

I gets some use, as did Higher Place for sports.

Lights was a good (if obvious) choice too for AllStar game.

Yeah, I heard it. They ended up using "Faith in the Heartland", DSB, and "Lights". 8)

Speaking of Generations, it's becoming very forgettable for me as it is. I mean, if I do pop the CD in, I might listen to 4 songs tops. I can listen to all of Escape, Frontiers, TBF (except for one song,) most of Departure, and most of ROR. I can listen to more of Arrival than I can Generations. As far as Red 13 goes, actually, I do like State of Grace, even though it isn't something you would normally hear from Journey. Most of the time, if I pop Red 13 in, it's to listen to Walking Away From the Edge. I LOVE that song!

Would have to agree, the only time that song had any balls was when JSS did it. The song is ok, but it hits ultra suck mode at the end.

I would agree with Deano's UNTAPEGATE CLOUDED assessment of Generations. There's more to gnaw on musically than ESC4P3. Nor am I denying the brilliance of Escape and Frontiers. Hell I'll take those 3 and ROR and stack them up against any band's big 4.

The song does drag on a little too long at the end but the rest is pure musical bliss, in my opinion.
