Gotta say Journey 1986 mountain aire concert at Angels Camp. I missed it by one fucking day. Had to drive down to LA the day before to begin college. I blew it big time but I was 18, dumb, and gung ho about getting to the university on time. I believe the live video for Girl Can't Help It was filmed at this show.

I regret not seeing Queen. I wish I could have seen the Escape and Infinity tours of Journey. We had 3 kids by that time and too many businesses. I caught up in the late 80's bigtime. I did get to see Foreigner in the mid 80's and Elton on the tour that he made Time magazine dressed as the statue of Liberty. I remembering turning around to this smell and asking my brother in law who is burning rope. He elbowed me in the ribs and said" thats Marijuana you idiot. I smoked back then, but that stuff gave me a headache.

Ditto! But I would have been happy with the ROR concert in Roanoke that was cancelled because Jon was sick.

I'm sure I'll add more to it later but here's a few shows I WISH I would've seen or been alive for.

Journey - pretty much any pre-Escape shows

Saw it

Styx - Grand Illusion and Pieces of Eight tours

I know it's not the same, but the 81 Houston DVD, (which I'm sure you own and love!) really does capture the ethos and energy of those days.

You know, the Houston show IS the reason why I feel so sad about not seeing the real thing. If the energy level can get through a TV screen like that,I can only imagine what it might have been like to be actually THERE.

Oh well,I try to compensate with crazy rollercoaster rides.

Remind me to take you to Magic Mountain while you are here then.

yay magic mountain.......God I bet that place has grown since the last time I was there circa 92.............i wanna come visit you, damnit! :D

There are just so many I missed.
But the most important are:
- Journey with Steve Perry and Gregg Rolie - Before Escape
- Kansas - Two for the Show era and Monolith era
- Genesis with Peter Gabriel - every era
- Marillion with Fish - Misplaced Childhood era
- Pat Benatar - Precious Time era
- Rush - Power Windows era
- Triumph - Never Surrender or Thunder Seven era
- Dixie Dregs - Unsung Heroes era
- Deep Purple - Made in Japan era
- Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti era
- Rainbow - Rising era
- Bryan Adams - Reckless era
- Van Halen - with Diamond Dave, every era is OK

Now this is a great topic.

I think my biggest one is that I wish I could have seen The Who before Keith Moon died.
The last show he ever performed here in the states (in '76) was the same day I was born, so obviously I missed the boat by miles on that one. I was 2 when he died. :( But The Who around 1970 would have been an unbelievably awesome time to go.

After that, I'm saying Journey for the Departure tour.
After that, Journey Escape tour.

The Beatles (any era) - how great would that have been.

I was so totally born in the wrong fuckin' decade.

I recommend Velvet Revolver. musically they are incredible. I've been to a hundred shows and they rocked the house. This upcoming tour (possible opening act for Van Halen in the fall) they will be even better with the second album.

This was an awesome show. One of three I saw Journey at in 1986. I remember Perry kicking a plastic water bottle that had been thrown onstage.

Other bands that played that day (openers):

The Outfield
Honeymoon Suite (great set)

Can't remember anyone else.

ozzy osbourne with randy rhoads in 1982 supporting diary of a madman.if randy rhoads would've lived the man would've changed rock guitar.unfortunately he died that spring in a tragic plane crash.most people don't know he actually had a fear of planes.they were touring on a bus when the accident happened.there was a plane near where the bus was parked and the pilot conned randy into taking a ride.unfortunately the pilot wasn't really certified to call himself a pilot and was fucked up when the crash happened.been 25 long years but he left us the first two ozzy albums which as far as i'm concerned will never be topped by ozzy later in his career.no more tears was good but it was a little too radio friendly to me......
