City of the Angels is my choice. Very underrated and underdiscussed tune.

Walkin' and talkin' and laughin'
About dreamin' the things that you want will work out.
People in places where you want to be,
I'm lost in the city, who's got the key?

True, that's one little gem that didn't got the proper attention.

"Someday Soon" is the other one I choose...Haunting song.

Good to see this track getting another mention. I originally voted for It's Just The Rain - but I was wrong. Positive Touch is definitely the most underrated Journey song.

His creativity was pushed out of the way you dumb ass. He couldn't deal with Perry's control freak nature.

Gotta say that depite my absolute hatred for this album, I do dig this song, and would totally put it on my underrated list (sax solo and all!)
But DO YOU RECALL is probably at the top of that list for me.

Perhaps Rolie had his own control issues? Ever thought of that?

And do you think Rolie was better able to "deal" with the fact that Jonathan Cain added 6 million sales to Journey's recording career in the year after he left?

Cain did fuck all. Rolie was a founding member that help build that band. Cain brought the gayness to their music that continues to this day. Cain was lucky enough to step on the roller coaster that was half way up the hill.

No he didn't. Friga was a hell of alot more simplistic musically than Rolie. It just so happened that when he came in THAT'S when Journey got HUGE.

Agree with that one too Laura. LOVE the contrast between Rollie and Perry's vocals on that one.

Yes, and their harmonies are so good on that track. Very well recorded song. And Neal's guitar work fits the song like a glove as usual. I'm not so happy with him these days though.

Then People and Places, what a technically impossible song that is, and they do such a great job on it. There was a lot of talent in that band. Lots of incredible talent.

The thing is, if Rolie stayed on, only God knows what Escape would have sounded like. It may have been better, and it may have been worse. I have no idea, but when Cain came in, the band became huge commercially. It could have been the same with Rolie, but we will never know. Rolie was immensely more talented than Cain, but he might have not had that commercial appeal. It's anyones guess as to what might have happened. All I know is that we lost the Rolie/Perry duets that I was such a fan of.
