Fair enough...hard rock then. Either way...not the Journey sound.

Define the "Journey sound" as u hear it for me? Some of Journey's music was definitely what I'd consider "hard rock" & I have a lot of friends who like Air Supply, Manilow & that crap & they consider Journey a "hard rock band". So, what's "the Journey sound"? The 1st 3 albums? The way they sounded for Infinity, Evolution & Departure? The ESC4P3 sound? The Frontiers sound? The ROR sound? The TBF sound? The Arrival sound? The Red13 sound? The Generations sound? See to me, they are all distinctly different Journey sounds. (Well ok, Arrival is ESC4P3/Frontiers-ish).

See IMHO some of Jeff's work outside Journey sounds a LOT like Journey & could easily fit into either the ESC4P3 or Frontiers era. For example, Coming Home (SoulSirkUS-World Play), Believe In Me (solo-Lost In The Translation), High Time (solo- Lost In The Translation), On My Way (Talisman-Talisman 7). I might even go so far as to say High Time is very similar to Anyway You Want It. Coming Home (to me) is so Perry-ish it's wild. My husband argued w/me that it wasn't Perry singing it the 1st 5 times he heard it :-)

By any chance have u heard any of those songs?

How could he be broke? years of owning property in CA, touring, owning that company with HH, solo albums, and being number #41 on the album charts right now?! I know he has mulitple families, but seriously broke? that's hard to digest after seeing the man work so hard for so long. :?

You could also call it the Perry sound!!! Yes he is that good! Or sounding similiar to the Storm sound!

Hmm I'd have to say Journey is ESC4P3 & Frontiers to the masses.

Actually let me take that one further, Journey is Don't Stop Believin', Open Arms, Faithfully, Send Her My Love, Separate Ways, Wheel In The Sky & Oh Sherrie to the masses. (No that wasn't a typo. Most people I know would argue that Oh Sherrie was a Journey song.) I rarely meet anyone other than diehards who knows any of the ROR songs.

Was Augeri the "Perry sound" to u? Were Red13 & Generations "Perry-sounding"?

What about Jeff's "Perry-sounding" work? Especially "Coming Home" from SoulSirkUS.

Well "Remember Me" definitly had the Journey sound, as did Arrival. "Lifetime of Dreams" is probably my favorite track off of the cd. Very strong outing.

They both blew. Generations had a couple of decent tracks, sounded like they started running off the "Journey" rails at this point. If Generations sounded like Journey than I can see how Jeff would also.

I've only heard Jeff live with Journey, twice. Once in July, once in October (I think) Only sounded like Journey when Dean would come in during the choruses. He did a nice job filling in though.

#3 - They were expecting to sign with a label. When that did not happen, all of their plans fell apart. They were stuck with touring with a guy who had a voice that forced a change to how Journey sounds, the sound that obviously most ticket buyers want....and NO new material to make up for the loss.

So, it's either make the change now, or wait until they were performing to the few dozen people on forums like this. That was their choice.

Now, the pendulum is swinging in the other direction...where they pander to the masses with a Perry impersonator. The reality is that is not a much better situation.

The truth is, they had the best of both worlds with Augeri. I doubt they are going to be able to find that happy medium again.

No way can it be that black and white.

Purely speculation but the only "sensible"--certainly not to imply that I agree with them-- scenarios I can come up with are:

1-Cain never truly wanted JSS in and finally gave NS an ultimatim--me or him--and I"m not signing away the name like SP did.
Maybe Cain even thought it was a good decision until this spring with something changing his mind by spring.

2-As I've speculated in a previous thread, Assoff wanted the closest thing to Perry that could be found, threatened to book them in shitty venues otherwise. Even if they left Irv, he could still keep them out of the choice venues. The problem with this theory is that I don't think ticket sales would have changed with the singer, but maybe Irv wasn't sold on JSS.

Either would be something they'd be ashamed to give as a reason, therefore leaving JSS and fans without an explanation.

Jeff sounds a LOT more like Journey than Ross Valory singing EVER does in my opinion.

I wasnt talking about Jeff live w/Journey tho. I was talking about Jeff's work outside of Journey. If u havent heard the tracks I mentioned, u really should. He's more Journey IMHO than Journey has been in years.

Gee, sorry, I don't have the contract so I can scan it for u Britt. I'm not exactly buddy-buddy w/Azoff & Co.

But it is a fact that credible sources have acknowledged. That's proof enough for me.
