Yep, not a total bullseye but still a DAMN good referendum on where Survivor was, 2006.

Still like Reach a lot.

Reach gets better with more plays. I just can't get into HOME. Damn I have tried. I do like the country feel. They tried something different it is just way too slow for me. Thoughts?

I wasn't saying that I cared that the FMS demo songs were on there...thank God they were...."I Don't" as well....

I just don't think it was strong...it was better than JP's last solo deal....

You know Slander the truth is with these guys, they to sum of their product is just so much better than when they are apart....

I think we just all miss that and long for that...

Eye you are so right. I listen to Caught In The Game A Lot. I think it is a special album. It still sounds fresh to me because NO ONE gave it a chance. The opening riff to Slander is a classic. The guitar solo to Caught in the Game. Dave's vocals on Santa Ana Winds. Wow. Damn I miss them.

Christ with all the TIME they had, they should've finished up Someone Else's Sleepless Night and some of the other good FMS demos and put them on Reach, too. Made it a 14-16 track album.

Agreed. I wonder if there is some conflict with Frankie and JP that didn't let that happen? Hate to speculate but who knows. In the music biz as we know there are a lot of monkey wrenches.

"Slander", is BRILLIANT. On top of the great riff by FS, Love the drum intro short yet, powerful and sweet. I'll say it again, I WISHED Marc played on the THTS album (that's where JP and FS relationship seemed to crack, IMO). Solo on CITG goes without saying. Been playing air guitar since my teen days on that from that time till now.

Love Daves delivery on : It takes a mighty mean bitch --

And the Santa Ana wind's gonna have its way tonight

My one and only complaint with THTS is that Droubay and Ellis weren't on it.

My two favorite Survivor albums have always been THTS and CITG.

From my understanding Droubay is the drummer who originally played the drum intro to the song "She's A Star" before he left the band, it's Curry on the album, but it was first played by Droubay.

I didn't want to start a new thread about this so I'll just post this here. I have the tv on in the background and I swear I just heard Jim Peterik singing in a fruit of the loom commercial.

There's a singer with a guitar on a stage that is NOT Peterik. But then next to the singer is an actor in an apple costume (no, thats not Peterik either, thank God) but I think Peterik may be doing voice over vocals for the actor?

Whenever I see a woman with wet, blonde hair throw her head back, I see Peterik. Whenever I see a guy with 70's-retro, Estrada-esque reflective sunglasses, I see Peterik. If I see a dude in a leather jacket strutting down the street like a badass, I see Peterik. Don't worry, J/S. It happens. It's the Peterik syndrome, and the only known cure is to watch the "EOTT" video consecutively for a half an hour.

I sometimes think ,only those old enough to have seen the 80's bands live, can appreciate why bands with lineup changes become small time on there way to oblivion. Journey.Foreigner, Styx and Survivor are only shadows of their popular years. All 4 bands lost huge writing assets. I mean Perry, DeYoung,Peterik and Gramm. It is sad that you kids settle for less ! Would you want to see Aerosmith w/o Tyler or BonJovi w/o Jon and so that is maybe why they are still huge. Freddie will never be replaced and Mick is who you want to hear in the Rolling Stones. Have some principles and don't settle for less. It is you hard earned $$$$$.

First the bands are not small time. That's rediculous. Journey and Def Leppard had a very successful tour last year. Styx has also had very successful tours and we are not talking the fiar circuit. So let's get our facts right. I argee with you to an extent about the song writing. Yes I miss JP. I don't think I'm settling for less. I'm glad these bands are keeping this great music alive. Don't talk down to us. Who are you to tell current fans we don't have principles because we support bands without their original line ups? I for one like Augeri. I like Kelly Hanson. I like Gowan. They made it look easy step in. Robin Mcauley while sounding very different than Bickler or Jamison is putting his own spin on things. To be honest he is a better showman than Dave and Jimi combined! So don't give us a were selling out speech. You are just flat out wrong when you say these bands are a shadow of their former selves. Your so called evidence doesn't back it up.

I heard the same crap when Diamond Dave left VH. It will never work without Dave. He is the heart and soul of the band! Nonsense. You must be his publicist.

Thanks for the Link. Never liked Summer Nights, don´t know why. Same as with Poor man´s son. I know both songs were very important for the Band but I prefer Take you on a saturday and Light of a thousand smile from Premonition much more.

Summer Nights has never been one of my favorites either. I like the song, but it's one of my least favorite Survivor songs. But then again one of Survivor's "worst" songs is still better than most songs by most other bands.

On the otherhand "Poor Man's Son" is one of my favorite Survivor songs of all time. Take you on A Saturday is also one of my favorite Survivor songs of all time.

Im just a huge fan of Premonition, but surely "Poor" and especially "Take" my fav of ALL!

WRT, Summer Nights, this live version with Frankie's solo at the end, is just is too good! FS is my fav. guitarist so that helps!

I will say this repeatedly. More than Jimi's voice or JP's keyboards, Frankie's guitar is critical to achieve the Survivor sound. Why people don't get that I just don't know.

I think most people do know its Frankie's guitar that is the MOST integral to the sound, some just don't want to admit it

But to be very candid about it, to me the SURVIVOR sound is FS and MD. Without this nucleus, I'd rather have a FS solo record.

I think it depends how people got into Survivor in the first place. Whether being the vocals, guitar, drums, song lyrics etc. Naturally, its the Sound that takes precedence and that means vocals or guitar in most instances. As far as I am concerned, no Frankie, no Survivor (I am biased with Dave though, but supposing its Dave going around as Survivor, I'd rather hear his solo stuff.

Meanwhile...No Neal Schon, no Journey, no Paul Rogers, no Bad Company....

Yeah, both Frankie and Neal are the most important members of their bands.

Obviously Steve Perry, Jimi Jamison, Dave Bickler etc, etc are also vital to the overal popularity of their bands, but Neal and Frankie have to be in their bands for it to truly be Journey or Survivor.

Jim Peterik was also a huge part of Survivor, I don't think that Survivor could have ever survived (no pun intended) without Jim Peterik's involvment in the late 70's and the 80's.

I'm a huge Paul Rodgers fan as well, but I did still like the stuff that Bad-Co did with Brian Howe on vocals.

Geez, I forgot about Brian Howe. Dangerous Age was my favourite post Rodgers record, I liked the tune "Bad Man" in particular. Next album not so much then Here Comes Trouble not too shabby. Oops, on a tangent! Sorry....

Not doubt, JP massive importance for Survivor's....er survival. After all the bands name came from his solo record. Frankie however, decided to keep it going, taking over the reigns.
