My friend and former neighbor is a big MSG fan. I had already heard "Anytime" but I remember him also playing the song for me at the time because he thought being a huge Survivor, Journey and Bad English fan I would really like the song, which I do.

That friend of mine is also the person who told me about the Robin Mcauley CD "Buisness As Usual" when it was first released in the 90's.

I heard that Survivor might include a song or two from the "Business As Usual" CD in their set list. At least in that case Frankie was the guitarist on those songs in the first place unlike the MSG stuff.

I don't have a problem with them playing "Anytime" except that it means thats one less Survivor song for them to play each night.

MSG was a very successful band, and a song like "Anytime" might go over well with the more casual Survivor fans?

Robin Mcauley actually is somewhat of a big name singer from his years in MSG.

J/S thank you so much for this. I am shocked by the negative feedback. MSG had a nice following. Anytime was top ten hit on Billboards mainstream rock chart back in 1990. It's a great song. So is Love Is Not A game. Frankie produced Robin's solo album. There's some good stuff on their if people are willing to give it a spin. I for one think the band is fortunate to have a person as capable as Robin to step in and take over for Jamo.

Yeah, I have the "Business As Usual" CD, it's a pretty good album, I like it a lot, and Frankie plays some great guitar on it!
It was originally intended to be a new band project when they recorded it, but it was later released as a Mcauley solo album instead.
.................................................................................................................................................................................

Most of you guys probably know this already but I thought I would mention that Frankie also plays on a CD buy a band called Julliet, the Jillian CD, Eddie Money's Ready Eddie CD, Hearts "Heart" CD, and the band Mariah that Frankie was in before Survivor.

Frankie is a great axeman and a talented producer. He never has gotten his due. He is cruical to the Survivor signature sound. The only part missing I believe is JP's keyboards (in moderation).

Yeah, Frankie is my second favorite guitarist only behind Neal Schon, and I like Frankie's riffs better than Neal's most of the time.

Sullivan deserves to get way more credit than he ever has gotten!

Frankie's guitar playing is the #1 most important part of the Survivor sound. I love Peterik's keyboard playing too, although I prefer there to be more guitar in the songs than keyboards. I do greatly miss Peterik's songwritting in the band though!

This is My Heart is a classic MSG song... Add that with Anytime, you've got yourself a great way to increase fanbase, I alos enjoyed his solo record with the songs "when the rain came" and "teach me how to dream".. Great songs!! This is going to be excellent! I still wonder were the new cd will come into play....

The lack of open minds and willingness to try anything new astounds me. Good rock and roll is good rock and roll. I think the reaction here is just more of the same effort to discredit Robin. It really saddens me. Robin is a talent and needs to be recognized as such. Yes I want to see Survivor. I have been a fan of the band since Premontion. I do however recognize that Robin brings his own catalogue to the table. If he has a couple of songs that can add some spice to the set list I'm all for it.

Blah, Blah, Blah! Come on Slander, it has nothing to do with Robin. I like him. But I don´t want a McAuleySurvivorGroup! I want Survivor! Doesn´t matter who the current singer is!

Sorry I call bullshit. Many of you are living in the past and don't want to go forward. I get really sick of Frankie did this blah blah blah blah. I'm sorry you guys don't like the fact that Robin acutally had a nice resume before Survivor. The band is fortunate to have some of his caliber to step in for Jamo. Is it so unreasonable that Robin would want to sing a couple of songs that were hits for him? Seriously get over yourselves.

Call it whatever you want. I don´t care. But it´s really interessting that you talk about "open minds" and in the same time you don´t allow other opinions and put everybody else into stereotyped thinking.

I never said anything bad or worse about the current line up. But I really don´t get the point what´s new with playing old songs from another band. Maybe you can tell me what´s new with this?

Maybe they should include "Stairway to heaven" in their setlist. Robin made it with Far Corperation in the middle of the 80s. That´s something new, right?

Why not create the "new" Survivor Sound and release an Album. That´s the "new" I can accept!

Survivor2005 thank you for being a true fan. Thanks for accepting that the music is the property of the artist and its not up to others to dictate how they practice their craft. If these people want to live in 1986 that's there business but I'm all about the future.

Let me know when you guys actually want to discuss music and not this bs. Quite frankly the band would be better served without fans like this. Sorry eye this is just nonsense.

Slander it must be nice to be the know all and end all of all things...

I mean, I can't imagine the terrible pressure you must feel being the only guy in the entire world that is never wrong.

It's you who get's to decide what a fan should be like. It's you who get's to decide what is right and what is wrong and what you can joke about and what you can't.

It's okay for us to joke about JJ (which I do often), but NEVER the all-mightly Frankie...I'm sorry...in the future I'll check with you on that...

If YOU say playing a 20 year-old MSG tune is 'New', the by-God it's new...

If YOU say an album is coming out tomorrow, then by-God it must be...

I propose we remane this Slander's Survivor Forum...

I bow to kiss your ring all knowing Slander...

If you don't recall when I started the thread I just asked what you guys thought of Robin performing MSG songs in a Survivor set? I didn't name call. I wanted opinions. I was shocked to hear that so many would be outraged that Robin would want to peform his own work. What a crime. I never criticized you for your opinion. What I criticize is how this discussion of music digresses into Frankie lied about this or that. Who gives a shite. It's 2007. Let's enjoy Survivor. And by the way I am far from perfect. I can admit when I am wrong. Too bad you guys can't just like when you jump all over Frankie's shite about Andrew's concert. It's a shame. It really is.

So you wouldn't want to hear a phil collins song at a genesis concert or sammy hagar song at halen? I almost think its an obiligation for singers to do that for their fans.

No I wouldn't want to.

The Phil Collins at Genesis thing I could abide and suffer because his solo career success damn near rivals that of Genesis.

But notice how that has NEVER happened. Genesis does not play In The Air Tonight, they stick to Genesis material and they'd have FAR more business playing a Collins number, familiarity wise than McSurvivor would playing an MSG #.

There is NO reason in a 10-song 1 hour set for McSurvivor to be playing ANYthing other than Survivor. If you want to expand add Survivor songs. Add Oceans. Add Can't Let You Go. Add The One That Really Matters. Add Hungry Years. Add Gimme The World.

The following is from last years press release announcing Mcauley as lead singer. It's says they hope to release in 2007! It doesn't say to be released. Let's get our facts right before we starting popping off that someone is a liar or other expletitives. Let's stay positive. Let's focus on the music. This has been a good year.

Drummer Marc Droubay adds, "We have played the same set list for five years. Having a singer of Robin's caliber allows us to change up the set list and give the fans the opportunity to hear songs live they have asked to hear for years! Songs they have never heard live before."

The new and current line-up-Robin McAuley (vocals), Frankie Sullivan (guitar), Marc Droubay (drums), Chris Grove (guitar/keyboards) and Billy Ozzello (bass)-are hard at work on a new studio album which they hope to release in 2007

So you want to hear 5 more songs that really weren't hits? Is that going to make the set stronger. The One That Really matters is worth adding. I'm not sure the others are true crowd pleasers.

And those obscure MSG fist pumpers? Sure to get the crowds pulsing, eh? The 3 people who know them that is.

Concerts need not be all about hits, and if you want to MAKE it all about hits but find yourself reaching to other bands' so called "hits" to ensure there are enough, then you're precariously close to declaring Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in the hits department.
