Don't you need to go play Army or go fawn over the president? I fucking hate you.

YOU are the number one reason I am not going to South Bend. If I did, I am sure I would be in jail for assault.

Deep down I think Journey were being fake and morally suspect when they recorded and toured without Perry. They blew whatever credibility and authenticity they had left in 1998.

So we're now seeing the most damaging consequences of this corruption ten years later? Yes, it's sad. But for the love of God get over it....

You know what Dean,

I feel pretty honored! First, you say I'm the one who brought you out of "Retirement from the forum" and now, I'M the number 1 reason you're not going to Southbend. For someone you've never met/spoke to/PM'd or even chatted with online, I sure seem to be having a lot of influence on your decisions! I have never had anything against you, and still don't other than your personal attacks. If you'd like to take this to a PM, I'm here.

I think ur missing the point Dan. What is mind boggling is the TIMING. Just when they had everything on the table & could have ridden the publicity wave. That's what we find so startling. (Don't go thinking I'm mean again b/c I said this, ok?)

Naw, I have NOTHING to ever hide, so I rarely ever go to PM. There is definitely a divisive effect happening here and the other place, and frankly, I don't feel the need to really elaborate or to fix it. You rub me the wrong way, you think it's humourous, and that's cool. There was a time when friendships, speaking for myself, were pretty tight, but now, to me anyways, are just slipping away, and that's unfortunate. You and I will just have to agree to avoid each other here. I basically don't go over to the Annex anymore for obvious reasons, but it does sadden me that once strong friendships, which originated because of Ed and myself, ie, the Baltimore Party, have eroded and are basically toast now. I used to have a really high number of friends I talked to nightly, and at the Annex but due to obvious reasons, that simply just doesn't happen anylonger. Hey, no biggie, I am out over there, you are in. I will hang in the JSS Forum and the BA Forum. Those guys are more my style. You win Barry. Enjoy. You should feel honoured.

What are you talking about Dean? I've never been to the Journey Annex. I've heard of it, and I know that Barry gets on there, but I've never even laid eyes on it! What have I had to do with your "Eroding friendships"? Just out of curiosity, why don't you talk to anyone in the Annex? Just because you're friends with Jeff, doesn't mean you're not welcome here (Or the Annex) in my opinion! I'm into this for Journey, and you seem to bring a lot to the Journey table, but If you no longer want to discuss Journey, that's you're decision

I understand that we have different opinions about the war, politics and probably religion, but that's no reason to "Hate" somebody. This is a "Melodic rock" forum, and honestly I wish that politics would have never come in here.

I think you're a funny guy, with a lot of witty comments and posts. I know I can be a smart-ass sometimes, but that's just in my nature (My wife loves that!). You can be a smart-ass sometimes too, but I don't mind. If I have said or done anything to you, I don't know what it is...Let me know!

I wrote that and directed it to Barry, and I'm sorry, but I lump all you fuckers together and fuck it, I am not changing the wording, because it's how I feel and I never lie to myself. I put all you Frontier guys in the same fuckin' boat. I just don't care enough anylonger to explain myself. Just drop it. I have a lot on my table to worry about silly shit like this.

Agreed!

Just don't lump me in with anyone else. I'm no longer a "Frontiers" guy, and answer for myself. I'm still friends with them, but do my own thing. If Jeremey get's the gig, that's Jeremey...not me. I haven't done anything to you, Journey, Jeff, or anyone else on this board!

I feel bad for the way it went down for Jeff, and wouldn't want that for anyone. On the other hand, I like Jeremey, and I wish him the best (as I think he's a great guy). It's nothing against Jeff, and as a matter of fact, I thought Jeff was a nice, and very down-to-earth guy when I met him. He's a cool guy, and a hell of a singer. I love my Talisman!

Oh...the publicity wave about the classic line-up....yes, it was a shame that Journey with JSS didn't milk the Perry era enough for that particular opportunity....

NOT just about the classic line-up. It was a publicity wave for the band. What I find amazing is the band didn't ride that wave to promote new music, a tour, etc. Instead, they went MIA.

They didn't ride the publicity wave because of Neal's brilliant  "Sometimes it's better to disappear and leave them wanting more" statement.

Probably one of the dumbest fucking things I've ever heard especially out of a band that's supposedly trying to resurrect itself as well as redefine itself by "going in a new direction" Which apparently meant out the back door and down the road back into obscurity. Fucking brilliant business gurus! NOT!!!!

The "publicity wave" you speak of is bullshit. They didn't have Perry, the guy who sang DSB, so who cares whether they have a lead singer or not. The catalog is through the roof and they're making tons of money. Showcasing anyone other than Perry would have done them NO good.

I cannot call them "stupid",although their latest decision seems to fit that description.However...it must be something that escapes us.Really.
Even people who are not in the biz realize that Journey blew it,so how could the bandmembers not foresee the disaster following JSS's firing?
Two scandals in less than a year is way too much.

Like you said...Everything was working perfectly.A succesful tour, raving reviews, excited fans, amazing publicity with the Sopranos,a year off - plenty of time to work on something new,the ideas were on the table, they were officially together for this ride...than Boom.
Who in their right minds would throw all this out the window? :?

In a way, this whole situation reminded me of Brad Delp's suicide. Why choose to die when in a few months you get married, start a new life, have a huge tour ahead of you...?
From the outside it seems completely crazy.Still, there must be something that make people and bands kill themselves. Is it really stupidity?

Maybe we'll never know.

Great post Laura. You're right that there must be something. In Journey's case I truly believe that something is nothing more than Neal's and Jon's egos.

They were going to do a record w/ JSS and he deserved that first studio shot.
