I would agree, but the complete bullshit Perry, Herbert and others displayed puts it down a couple notches. I do like the vision Perry had for this though. If you think about it, not only was Be Good to Yourself Stephen's "departure song" from Journey, so was this CD, as he was the only one from the San Joaquin Valley, and that's where this radio station resided. This was Stephen's baby, like Elson said. I DO like it though, but am somewhat saddened to see the continuous hitting streak of scarab covers and one word titles come to an end....to me, Journey really ended in April 1986....even though Trial by Fire was a great effort, it was a payday cd for the band.

Unofficial: Japanese Arrival
Official: Chris Payne's Red13. Generations was great as well, edged out by Payne.

I'm voting for ROR too. I hate bugs, so the scarab ones are out for me. ROR followed by Evolution.
TBF is just.... wtf were they thinking.

Now... one thing I recently found re: that ^

Most of that song wasn't actually written by Perry. That was Friga's handy work according to the notes in Time3.
(page 59 at the top)...

...But the song didn't come easy. Cain labored over the lyrics for five months. "Steve never had time," Cain said. "He'd just say 'Work on it.'" Finally it came down to the day the song was to be mixed in New York with engineer Bob Clearmountain. While Cain tok a shower, the melody formed in his head. He burst into the studio, his hair still wet, and Perry knocked off the final vocal in less than an hour.

I could have done without the image of Friga in the shower, but anyway, there's the story on "Be Good To Yourself".

For me it's either Evolution or the Greatest Hits. Both are eye catching.

I'd pick Evolution tho...Love the black & blue combo.

That cover never appealed to me. It definitely has JOURNEY elements, though. I always like to point out that the ROR logo is a motif of the winged disk. Very subtle and cool. The two towers are reminiscent of the mountains that are found in the sphere of the Infinity and Evolution covers. I also like the "JRNY" call letters on the building.

I don't know that I have a favorite cover although I find Infinity pretty cool. It's got a lot of fine detail and has a kind of Ancient Egyptian/Native American feel to it.

The Garden of Eden can't be found on a map. It's not a geographical location. It's right where you are - if you're in the spirit.

Dave, you picked the worst one. That looks like it should be on the hood of a fuckin' Firebird Trans Am with a white pot smoking stoner in it trying to cop a feel from some broad he picked up at a trailer park.

instead of putting a gold eagle on the trans am in the late 70's they should've just slapped the infinity album cover on the hood of the car.

I had the Arctic White 1980 Trans Am Indy Pace Car and it ALWAYS reminded me of Journey. Probably because I constantly had Greatest Hits in the cassette player. That car got me a lot of ass.

I agree--Infinity, for the same reason you state. It's the first of a great concept. BTW, what did Perry do to screw with it? I'm not familiar with that.

I like the Esacpe cover, too. A close second.

ROR and Departure.

Guys stop reading now, this will bore you.......

A friend of mine has a computer program that prints out templates to any picture to be cross-stitched. She printed and sent me templates for the ROR, Departure and Escape album covers. Haven't had a lot of time in the last year so I'm only a quarter done the ROR cover, but I thought they would look cool framed, down in the family room........especially ROR and Departure, love the colors. :)

I don't really care as much for "Red 13" or "Generations". "Red 13" is OK, I guess, but "Generations" is just too "computerized"-looking.
