What's your favorite Journey tune, that never hit it big?

Postby G.I.Jim » Sat Jul 21, 2007 2:13 pm

I'm bored (Obviously), and was just thinking about some of the great tunes to come out of Journey that for some reason...just never hit it big. Here are a few of my favorites;

1. Happy to give
2. the eyes of a woman
3. Why can't this night go on forever
4. keep on runnin'
5. Lay it down

What are yours?

Definitely LOVE "If he should break your heart"!!!

It's funny to say, but I loved hearing Augeri sing La Raza Del Sol on the 2001 dvd. That song kicked ASS!!!

Hey man,

"Patiently", "Higher place" and "Livin to do" were awesome too! I wish Arrival would have got more airplay, because it was a MUCH stronger album IMHO than "Trial by fire"! I did like 3 or 4 from that album though.

I agree with everything except "Don't fight it"! Ugh!!! "Little girl" was definitely on the wrong album though! I found the "Dream after dream" cd in a record store, and bought it for about $20.00. I was all excited to get it out to the truck to give it a listen. I put it in and thought WTF??? The ONLY redeeming quality about that cd was "Little girl"!

I agree with you about the song though, it could have been a hit if it had been on a regular album. I'll never understand why Journey put that thing out???

It's one of my favorites, "Troubled Child"...actually, I don't even know if it was on the radio back then. Also, I could picture, "Edge of the Blade" being a hit. There are so many great songs that should have been heard by the masses.

Yeah, that Dream After Dream is a little out there for my taste.

Amen to that! I loved "Troubled child". Very dark and melodic. I think that was my favorite era. His voice (IMHO) had hit its "Sweet spot" to my ears. it was a little more grown-up, had some rasp to it, yet he could still hit all of the notes! Man I miss those days!!!

"Dream after Dream" is different because it was made for a movie. I do love it, 'tho...it has an elusive quality to it. And, wasn't "Little Girl" on the B-side of a 45 - so, it may have been heard more than we think?

Wow, that's pretty much my list too. Particularly, the first two. I love La Raza. His voice is soooo strong and clear. If I were to list solo, I would add, It Won't Be You, She's Mine, and Don't Be Down On Me Baby.

I'm not sure Tammy. My collection has never been more than cassettes, and cd's. I have every Journey cd ever released, but not the singles. The only singles I have are Perry's. Great stuff though!

I love how his voice, at the end of the deep notes still had that lilt from Escape and prior.

Lilt - it's a lighter tone or feeling. Like, the lilt of her laughter.

Main Entry: 1lilt
Pronunciation: 'lilt
Function: noun
1 : a spirited and usually cheerful song or tune
2 : a rhythmical swing, flow, or cadence
3 : a springy buoyant movement

I had heard that term in my life more than a few times, but had a completely different thought as to what it meant. Now I'm so confused! :(
