Dream band?

Postby Maro » Sat Jul 21, 2007 11:26 pm

What's your idea of superb Journey-style band?

Mine is following:

HUGO VALENTI - vocals (solo, ex-Open Skyz, Valentine)
JOSH RAMOS - guitars (China Blue/Ramos/Hardline, ex-Robert Fleischman, Two Fires, The Storm...)
TODD JENSEN - bass (ex Steve Perry, Hardline, David Lee Roth...)
RON WIKSO - drums (ex Foreigner, The Storm, Cher...)
PAUL TAYLOR - keyboards/guitars (ex Steve Perry, Winger...)
Live long and prosper,

The JSS Band.

Sad really...
Put this band and its last 3 albums out back in
the early 80's and Jeff would be a
bonafide RockStar now.

I would say;

Eddy Van Halen
Deen Castronovo
Jack Blades
Sammy Hagar
Jim Peterik

But they'd cancel the tour before they made it to the 1st stadium!!!

Like your thinking, JoePa.
Geraldo could flat out shred at times...
Collins on drums, though?

Yeah, the only thing I might change is to throw Marcel in there. He's an amazing bass player & w/out him, it's hard to think of it being a "dream band".

Sure would be nice to have Perry singing back up vocals too (well, that's all he sings these days!).

A dream band is already out there...Scrap Metal. 8)

If I could put together one myself I'd call 5 guys:

Steve Perry
Eddie Van Halen
Derek Sherinian
Deen Castronovo
Billy Sheehan

Then I'd call another five, and another five... Sweet dreams.

Oh yes.
I'm all about speed and power hitting with loopy complex patterns. Collins is my choice outside Journey for that brand of playing in the MR world. Best EG: Tonight, Tonight, Tonight, Bad Love and Forever Man (latter 2 being Clapton #s)

I had that one, but decided to change it to "play along" since this was an actual lineup at one time.

Andy Taylor plays a pretty good rhythm guitar, I've seen him do it on Mayberry.

Now if you could get Jimi Jameson in there somewhere that would be the most stunning vocal lineup of all time. That is, until they spontaniously combusted.

I kinda like this w/some changes. Throw in Jimi (as Sherrie suggested) & we need Jeff too for some rocking songs. I'd take Deen off drums & talk to Smitty tho. Aren't we missing a bass player. I vote for Marcel Jacob for that role, hands down. He's the only bass player I've ever said "wow" to.

Yeah, that would truly be THE Super Group. I left Deen in there from a vocal standpoint. But with Steve, Jeff, Jimi, Dennis, Tommy, and Glen, who needs more vocals? Image

And all I can say is DAMN!! I'd kick Schon out just because he's a dick, and just keep Luke.
