These songs are awesome!!! Judging by the sound, I would guess that they were writing album demos (Maybe for ROR). Could have been from Frontiers, but I doubt it. Very cool though!!! Thank all of you for sharing! I haven't heard many of these before. Feels like Christmas in July! :D

Thank u Sister Sherrie. Ur the best!

I'm not certain about the time period. The 1st one has an 80s sound to the music. This could be from the Street Talk era w/him just playing w/his lower register. The rasp is pretty pronounced there at some points but comparing it to a song like Go Away, the vocal quality is similar to my ear????

The 2nd one, he hits the highs differently than I've ever heard from him before. Now that could just have been a day when his voice wasn't rested enough, he had a cold, or hadn't drank enough. Or it could have been from around the time of TBF. But there's no rasp evident at all there. So I'm just not sure.

Damn it. I wish he was like Jeff & here to tell us when these were done & why. :-)

Holy cow!!! Rough, low register, raspy demos and the man STILL sounds BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! I'm a proud, proud Loon. These sounded Street Talkish to me...
Geeze, does he even realize that he's perfect even when he isn't?

Sigh.....

I wonder why he sang backup for so many people when he had a better voice than them all? Talk about "burying gold". :?

Well, personally - I've renamed the 1st song "Nothin' But a Heartache", and the 2nd one "We All Want to Be Loved"....since those seem to be the dominate phrases for each of those songs.

The sound isn't great.

After listening to these 2 songs, I am CONVINCED that Steve could:

a. Sing over the phone
b. Record himself on a crappy "press-record-and-play-at-the-same-time" recorder, or
c. Be heard on a child's "Close-n-Play"

AND STILL KICK MAJOR ASS!!!!

I've been reading the forum for a while but this is my first time to post. I can't thank all of you enough for making all these songs available to those of us who didn't have a chance to get them like me. I've been downloading them to my computer every since I came across this thread and making notes to make sure I had them all. I've enjoyed Steve's singing for years and I do hope he does get his butt out there and gives us something new if for no other reason but to shut us up for a while. So again, thanks much and I'll be helping myself to whatever you want to share with us. I still have room on my computer for more. Now, all I have to do is learn how to burn what I have to a CD for backup.

Brian is half of the Mark & Brian team, DJs/Radio presenters in SoCal. They are well known practical jokers and this was a little bit of Perry revenge one year.

Hey Sis, I think those two demos were recorded at the same time and that it was sometime during the ROR time period. I don't remember why I think that, just that at the time I got them I thought that was the case. I could be wrong though. My mind isn't exactly a steel trap anymore.
