Hey, I was born after the biggest part of the heyday. The biggest thing in my life during the ROR tour was being potty trained. YEAH! I'm a loon when it comes to that!!

NOW I feel old! I'm only 38, but I feel old...

hmmm. That requires me actually remembering, which is a challenge these days. We saw the SF show at the Warfield, saw the 3 shows in L.A. at Pantages and 1 show in Fresno - that was fun as he had some of his family there. Cyndy & I flew out to Rochester NY to surprise him and we got the surprise. After we checked into the hotel, we called to say "we're here" and found out he was ill (bronchitis) and the show was cancelled. So I think we saw a total of 5 shows.

I only caught 2. If I'd known that would be it, I wouldve quit my job & become a professional Perryhead for the tour. I believed him when he said he wouldn't stay away that long again. :-(

You had a nice run, but I hope the Rochester show was not during the dead of winter!?

Yes, it was dead of winter. And we had to stay the weekend. And there is nothing to do in Rochester NY in the dead of winter.

Pretty much. However when the tour was over I really wanted him to rejoin Journey. Something about the musicians he had was lacking. Couldn't put my finger on it, but the sound just wasn't there. Paul Taylor's keyboards and the Lucas' drums just didn't sound right. Liccoln was excellent and Jensen was adequate. As for Perry, he was outstanding.

Chicago, Milwaukee and Burlington, Iowa. The show in Burlington was during a blizzard. I was in college and my friend that drove said "Skip all your fucking classes we're leaving before noon." The place was about 2-3 hours away. We left at 11 a.m. and got there at around 7, literally minutes before the show started. There couldn't have been 1,000 people there. Looked at my buddy (I was shitfaced...drank the whole ride there) and said "I don't know about you, but my ass is going up to the front row." Did a bull rush and sat front row center for the entire show. It was incredible.

Moonie, is that the Toronto 94 show you saw? If so, from the dvd boot it does look like a great show. If you don't have that one, pm me.

I didn't get to see any of the 94 shows, I think he only played the one Canadian date in Toronto, lucky lady. I was able to see Journey once on the Escape tour when they played here in May 82.......amazing.

Here we go again.
Another de-tuned song from the infamous 1994 tours. Why choose to lower a song and sing it while you have a whole catalog of songs you can perform in the original key to choose from?
I simply hate this version of Anyway you Want It. Listen to it after you listen to the original key and you know something's wrong from the first note. Much better the Augeri and JSS versions of the song.
He still had the tone, the range was gone. I wonder where he is now.

I know Matthew. I know you're hating me  but you know how much I can't stand down-tuning.
I even hated when Rush did 2112 downtuned. That was a gift for their fans. Now they're skipping the song or playing the instrumental medley.
Why bother downtuning? Some songs lose their magic when downtuned. Anyway You Want It is one of them.
Some prefer Perry downtuned to every other singer, but I prefer the magic of the original song in the original key. Something doesn't click at all with me when downtuned. Skip the song for God's sake!

Dregs - when you go to a concert and the band interprets the song in a different way to the studio version do you get in a head spin about that too? Or is it just this down-tuning business?

No probs at all with the same version-different version. I loved how Toto redid Girl Goodbye-Rosanna-Africa live along these late years. After you play a song for 20 or more years the same way u are allowed to be tired to play it the same way you played it the first time.
It's only the downtune waltz that annoys me to death.
