Survivor : The Band : Notes

7/23/07 - NYC Rocks!

Back from a week in NYC and that led me to a surprisingly beautiful train ride up to Providence on Saturday, which was a show day. I never travel on the show day but I was having such a blast in NYC that I delayed my departure until the last possible moment. The town that never sleeps turns me into the man who never sleeps!

I also got to spend some quality time with my dear friend, Frank Filipetti. Anyone who visits this site knows how much I love this man. He is absolutely the best in his field and a great guy to boot. What a combination, New York and Filipetti – wow! Tell me God doesn’t guide me along…! I found myself walking to the studio at least a half dozen times. It’s hard for me to say goodbye to Frank so we keep it to “see you next time”.

I got to Providence in time for a sound check and the show. It was great fun to see you all out there and having a great time along with us. People like you keep my fire burning. Thanks for keeping the fire alive and for keeping the joy of performing alive in my heart.

I am now back in Chi-Town resting up for the next weekend and helping out with the laundry. Yes – you heard me right! When I come home from these trips my suitcase has grown about four inches. Thank God for Briggs and Riley for the fine and expandable luggage.

And Thank God for all of you great fans, your never ending support is awesome.
You guys rock…

Let's hope they are talking the new album! Would that be great or what?

Wait a minute.

I thought it was a bygone foreclusion that the next album would be out this year.

Red I said talking about the new album. The one in the works. And by the way Red you do more quoting out of context than anyone I have ever known. That's your perogative I guess but frankly I just don't understand it. I also recently gave you a direct quote from the press release last July when Mcauley joined the band. Let's give you a refresher shall we.

The new and current line-up-Robin McAuley (vocals), Frankie Sullivan (guitar), Marc Droubay (drums), Chris Grove (guitar/keyboards) and Billy Ozzello (bass)-are hard at work on a new studio album which they hope to release in 2007.

Hey Red....Notice the word HOPE. It never said will. Hope does not equal forgone conclusion.

Not quoting YOU per se, S.

I'm quoting what the McBand said last McYear when the McChange was made and if I'm not McMistaken you did say not McLong ago that you looked forward to the McAlbum that would be McOut in 200Mc7.

And what was so GD hard about doing an album in a full year's + time? If they MEANT what they were saying at all, and not just doing what they were doing with Reach (saying every year since 2000 that the album would be "coming soon" and all of Frankie's windy posts about "DATs and great knob turners and button pushers, and we have 8 songs cut, but they just need to be mixed, and we just LOVE working with THIS soundman, and I'm inspired by Van Halen and btw you crowds we play to 3 times a month just ROCK and the album will done soon, and this great guitar tech I have brought me to tears with the sound he gets out of me...." on and on ad nauseum) then the record should be in the can by now ready to drop in the fall.

As it IS, United States record stores are STILL waiting for the first album since 1988.

There won't be a new album in 2007, but it would be great if they would at least release an EP like Journey did with their Red 13 CD.

Or at least record 1 brand new song that could be downloaded off of www.survivormusic.com
They could charge a dollar or two for the download, much like Neal Schon did on www.journeymusic.com with one of his solo songs.

I trust your info Journey but I had heard something a little different. I heard that it was really in the works.
