OT - Who's the better Pianist? Yanni or Cain

Postby chf34jmac » Fri Jul 27, 2007 11:03 am

I personally believe that Yanni has more talent in the tip of his crank than Cain has in his whole body. Cain needs help just to make the song work. Yanni writes stuff for an entire fucking orchestra. Who's the better of the two. Discuss?

Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater could kick the Frig's ass on keyboards.

Seriously? I don't think I know any of Yanni's songs. I might have heard them on some late nite show. But in terms of technique I couldn't really compare them w/out knowing Yanni's stuff. I've never really gotten all the hoopla about Friga that Matty Lightshoes posts about. I always thought Rolie was better. Dennis DeYoung, now there's a keyboard player for u. Personally I think even Lawrence Gowan is better than Friga.

Other than a few cool bits here & there in certain songs he co-wrote w/Perry, what's Friga really done that is so amazing? His own songs written w/out Perry suck bad. Why such a big deal about the guy anyway?

Cain's not a bad player but Liam's wright. Rudess is kickass, along with guys like Keith Emerson and, my personal favorite, Rick Wakeman.

I think Gregg Rolie kicks Cain's ass.

Out of all the great musicians that have been in Yes over the years, Wakeman has maintained his skills better than the others. I have their 35th anniversary DVD and the other guys seemed to have slowed down but Wakeman's performance was awesome.

Don't really like his voice but Lawrence Gowan is a FANTASTIC keyboardist. I'd say he could beat Cain's ass too.

Steve Walsh is pretty good but Livgren was really the better keyboard player in that band.

I don't know about that, but Livgren rocked it out with the guitar. I loved Livgren mostly for his music writing and faith more than anything.

I think it takes a special musician to play progressive styles and to be very good at it. Just like I think it takes a very good guitarist to play classical.

I like Billy Powell from Lynard Skynard. He might not be the greatest, but he's damn good.

You're down under and backasswards bro.

Gowan definitely does not rule. Hell, most on the Styx board agree with me. As much as Friga lines his asshole with cocks, he is still better than Gowan.

You want to talk good keyboardists and pianists, Bruce Hornsby is better than both these asshoppers.

Yep. You aren't sincere in your posts. They are all bullshit and you know it.

Larry from next door better than Neal?
Gowan better than Friga?

Come on, this is stupid.

Solo Gowan has the power and passion not unlike fellow Cannuck B Adams. Check him out Deano...take off the blinders.

Threw the blinders away Andrew. I LIKE Gowan, but he isn't as good a player as Hornsby, or Friga and definitely not as good as Elton John or Bruce Hornsby.
