Your "contributions" to the developed world are not all that impressive to be honest. When you Croates build a B2 Bomber, go to space, and decide what is going to happen in the world, get back to me asap.

I am only fuckin with you, but you are making my morning full of laughter.

Winger? I can't stop laughing.

You know why I saved it? Not because it was "response to RockinDeano" but because I wanted to save short list of facts about every Croat should be proud of, which I researched on net and didn't want to lose...
We might be small piece on land on globe, and significantly smaller in numbers than other nations... but noone could say we didn't contribute anything to the civilization... with all respect to all other nations on this planet.

One question to you, though, why are you so full of hate and constantly need to insult and argue with someone?

Ok, good thing that I saved my last years response to you about Croatia. Andrew deleted that topic last year...
For your information, here are couple of info on Croats...

Most important contributions from Croats to western civilization:
- the greatest influence on modern civilization made Croatian born Serb Nikola Tesla with his many inventions who are directly responsible for stellar development of technology in 20th century... you won't have a computer or internet now without his inventions...
- neckties (first came from Croatian mercenaries in service of french king Louis XIII)
- parachutes (inventor Faust Vrancic made a sketch of first parachute in 1595 and first known test of parachute in 1617)
- speedometer (inventor Josip Belusic invented it in 1888) - important part of cars...
- pencils (Croatian resident Slavoljub Eduard Penkala in 1906 and 1907)

Some of Croats famous in USA:
- Dražen Petrovic, r.i.p. - NBA hall of fame (one of the best ever basketball players from Europe)
- Janica Kostelic - A.S. World Cup Champion in 2001, 2003 & 2006 (4 Olympic Golds, 2 Silvers)
- Goran Ivanisevic - Wimbledon Champion 2001. (tennis)
- Mirko Filipovic (Cro Cop) - mixed martial artist and kickboxer
- Anthony Maglica - owner of Mag Instrument, the makers of the Maglite, a powerful and durable flashlight
- Goran Visnjic - actor (Dr. Luka Kovac in the hit television series ER)
- Mira Furlan - actress (Delenn in sf tv series Babylon 5 and Danielle Rousseau in tv series Lost)
- Michael Matijevic - singer (Steelheart, voice of Mark Wahlberg's character on Rock Star soundtrack)

With the exception of Mili Matijevic from Steelheart, I am COMPLETELY unimpressed. The pencil? Big fuckin' deal. The parachute? Whoa, can't live without that. You should stand on a chair, wrap a necktie firmly around your neck, jam a pencil through your left eye, step off the chair, pull open your parachute, and use a speedometer to gauge your speed. Tell us how that works out for you.

You could have been directing that at me and I'd STILL be laughing my ass off, dude. Bravo.

Um, no. I am not full of hate at all. The people who know me here will attest to that; I was simply pointing out your musical choices are pure shit, that's all. Guess you Croates don't have a sense of humour.

Actually, Croats aren't much different than most of mediterranean or continental Europeans... so there are obviously a lot of Croats with good sense of humour, it's just that every human being has different sense of humour, so there is nothing wrong if I don't think you're very funny with your comments, as there is nothing wrong for other people here to think otherwise...

Speaking about individual music choices, for me it's nothing wrong that other people like something I don't like (for instance, I totally dislike punk rock, grunge, hard core, death/doom/black/thrash/speed metal, techno, dance, rave, serbian turbofolk - very popular here, etc.) as there is nothing wrong that other people don't like my preffered musical choices (as you dislike Michael Bolton's AOR albums, Winger, Hugo, Asia, etc.). It would be weird if everyone would share completely same musical tastes...

This is a hard thread to respond to...because I don't think I have a top 10 of all time that has remained the same for more than a short period of time. It's a fluid list that changes every so often.

Id have to say that Journey-Escape and Van Halen-5150 is always in that list, along with Whitesnake's 1987 album....but other than those 3, My listening changes enough from day to day, month to month....that it's impossible to quantify an additional 7 albums.

The first time I ever heard the album was on the way to a skiing trip. A buddy of mine who was into Jazz had it in the player. It had recently snowed and everyone on the trip was watching the mountains painted white while we drove to the resort. All I could think was how perfect the album matched the scenery passing by my window.

A couple of years later during my freshman year of college, my girlfriend at the time thought it was the best 'mood' music she had ever heard. She bought a copy of her own and played on her hall, one of her friends walked past and said, 'Now THAT is sex music right there." Over the years I've probably bought 7-8 copies to hand out as gifts, 'cause like you said it seems no one else has even heard of it.

This won't be easy...

The Beatles, Abbey Road - Journey's always been my favorite, but I have to give this number one
Journey, Captured - my sentimental favorite. First record I ever bought. I'm cheating here, of course, because it's got so many great live versions from the early Perry years. To me, it showed the brilliance of the band before they hit it big, when it was still in its purest form. Plus, it's easier for me to pick because Escape and Arrival are a virtual tie for me.
Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon - there's just nothing like it. Period. Except maybe Wish You Were Here. Edge to Dark Side 'cause it's longer. There - decision made!
The Refreshments,Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy - if you've heard the music of Roger Clyne, you'll know what I'm talking about. Not just music, but a mantra to live by
The Replacements, Don't Tell a Soul - Sure, their earlier work was edgier, but Westerberg's songwriting was at its absolute best on this one
Black Crowes, Southern Harmony and Musical Companion - Oh good heavens, baby, where is my medicine?
Gin Blossoms, New Miserable Experience - I have a soft spot for the Arizona music scene, and the early years of this band were magic
Matthew Sweet,100% Fun - Unfortunately, he's never topped it. I keep hoping.
Goo Goo Dolls, A Boy Named Goo - same thing I said for Matthew Sweet. Except for one thing - I stopped hoping.
Robbie Robertson, Robbie Robertson - self-titled album by the guitar player from the Band, this features appearances from U2 and the Bodeans. It's got killer songwriting, and Robertson uses such imagery. For anyone whose heard Rod Stewart butcher "Broken Arrow," you really need to hear the original on this album.

Honorable mention goes to Steely Dan's Aja, which would definitely be on this list if I actually owned it. Also, the Piersons Humbucker, and Roger Clyne's Sonoran Hope and Madness

I was fortunate enough to see their last concert ever on 12-31-2005. We got to see John AND Greg do a duet together on some of the ballads. Pretty cool. I've got my video I took of it on my myspace page.

6. Kansas - Greatest Hits
7. Evanescence - Fallen
8. Billy Joel - Essentials
9. Petra - This Means War
10. Petra - Beyond Belief

Good choice. That one almost made my top 10 as well.

The album is awesome and I feel it is one of their best albums with John singing. With Greg, I liked Beat the System.

Petra is like the Spinal Tap of Christian music as far as how different each era of the band sounds. With Greg X. Volz, my favorite is "More Power to Ya".
