OT: Tom Snyder Dies

Postby Ms_M » Mon Jul 30, 2007 11:57 pm

Posted this in the JSS forum, too, but thought people here might want to see it, too. Just saw this online... I think They-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named performed on his show in the early 80s.

Indeed they did, in '81. That one was not a great moment in Perry history.
The clip of DSB is absolutely hilarious. I need to get it off my old pc and post it... it's well worth it.
I don't think it's on YouTube but I'll check. The interview was good though.

Sad news. I always liked Tom's show. He had great guests and the interviews were always funny and interesting.

Oh,my...Thats's so sad.He was a really cool guy.RIP.

ps~ BJG,I'm uploading DSB as we speak. The only one from Snyder's show up on YouTube is 'Who's Crying Now'.
DSB ( it was in 1982) is the one where Steve messes up the lyrics...Pretty funny, but ultimately it came out ok.Guess the song was very fresh.

I'll post it in a few.

Song starts alright, but after the guitar intro, instead on going on with "A singer in a smokey room",he gets to "working hard to get my fill".Then I think they cut it short and got to the chorus...Weird.

Mistake is an understatement. Everything after Neal's first solo was wrong. ROFL!
The 2nd verse (...singer in a smokey room...) is gone completely and the 3rd verse ends up spread over 2 verses.
Poor Steve. LOL!

I used to watch his show sometimes. He could be a bit brash or abrasive occasionally but I liked him. Most of the shows I saw were very informative and entertaining. RIP. :(
I looked for the interview part of the show when Journey was on but didnt find it. I have it on tape...thought Tom was a bit rude to Perry ( I think it was one of those nights he was drinking before the show) Wasnt one of his better interviews.
Did find the other song Journey did on that show. Who's Crying Now..

I'm sorry to hear he died. I used to watch him sometimes. I remember when Journey was on there talking to him.

Neal's falsetto leaves a LOT to be desired. Way too loud in the mix. It's laughable! His playing is a bit off at times too. I forgot about it when the camera zoomed in on that incredibly gorgeous face & he looked right at me tho! :-) Almost passed out then.

TVL u need to upload that interview. Please, pretty please.

I think Perry realized he messed up & made it happen anyway. His voice was perfect & he looked totally hot.

This is sad. Snyder DID promote alot of rick acts. The first time I ever saw Kiss interviewed was on his show (Ace was HILARIOUS btw) , and I even remember the CLash on there at one point.

Thanks for posting that. Enjoyed the clip and appreciate your efforts.

If you have a chance, could you change the title to include Tom Snyder? I'd like to show this clip to friends and it'd make it easy to find if this thread disappears.

Thanks so much Wildfire. I enjoyed that interview. Steve was great as always.

I dug where Tom asked Ross how they fire someone. Ross talked about how 2 people have left (um he couldn't count even then!). Then he said Journey always tries to make it "comfortable fair & equitable". Ha ha ha.
