Augeri who? Sony Journey site...

Postby ArnelRox » Tue Jul 31, 2007 12:14 pm

Sony has put up a new Journey website:

http://www.journeyband.com

There's tons of Perry, as would be expected. But there is no mention of what happened to Journey after 1996 at all. On the photos page, they included a shot w/Jeff as the 2nd photo but they don't mention who he is. Not even one photo or mention of Augeri. His name does show up as lead vocals for the Arrival album on the music page. Other than that, I guess he didn't exist at all.

Oh they have a forum set up to talk about upcoming tour dates. Huh? A casual fan happening upon this could easily assume Perry is still w/the band & about to go on tour w/them.

I don't think Sony wants any part of Journey without Perry. They tried it once with Augeri and Arrival and saw that it was not a financial success. Journey's contract was up and without Perry they were glad to be rid of them.

tj- you said it ! Sony rolled the dice lost and no more recording contract. I wonder who was almost ready to sign them with Jeff as I heard mentioned here ? Who and what they are now and where they will be is impossible to even venture a guess. Buena suerte to Journey and their management. They remind me of a DefLepard video with the circus.

What's the deal with Generations? they don't have it advertised for sale on either site.
I know most don't like it and its been the butt of a lot of jokes on here, but are they not going to sell it anymore?

I hope not!!! Not to be an asshole, but the album sucked!!! The only songs worthwhile on it where the two Dean songs (IMHO)! I hope they fare better on the next one. Guess we'll see?

It had a few good songs on there, but I am curious why they aren't even listing it? I never bought it until late last year and there was so much talk on here about it. Maybe they gave them all away.

Bestbuy is selling Generations. I was there the other day and I always check out the Journey section even though I have all the albums already. I agree with the previous poster, Generations wasn't good - Arrival was a better CD.

That's probably the ONLY way they got rid of them!!! I'm just kidding. It wasn't THAT bad, but I think other than Red 13, it was their worst album to date! It's cool that they all sing and do the solo thing (I own most of those albums also!), but I don't buy a Journey album to here solo stuff! I buy it to hear the signature Journey sound with Steve-Freakin-Perry, (or someone who sounds like him) with huge vocals, melodies and some awesome guitar solo's!!! That's what I think the average person on here wants as well. I loved "Remember me", as well as Arrival. I think Arrival was an absolute kick-ass album!!!

They may never get back on the radio again (who knows), but I would just LOVE another Journeyish album that's worth the time!!! Guess we'll see what happens...

Sony won't advertise it on their site because Journey didn't record it with them. Same with Red 13. Sony only wants to sell the Perry era stuff because it's what makes them money. From the band's (current members) perspective, they probably don't want to share anything new with Sony these days.

Yes Generations is a Sanctuary release and it is still on shelves.

WalMart's got it for $9.99.

That site totally blows away the official site. That is the crappiest pro band web site I've ever seen.

Sony is obviously putting all their eggs into the Perry basket. A shame for Augeri. The guy came in, saved the band for a number of years and will be quickly forgotten.

Come on Sony...
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Jim u do realize u justified them getting rid of Jeff in those sentences, right?

For the record, I disagree. I would have loved to hear a new record w/Jeff where he did his thang.

First of all Deb, it was "Shake Your Groove Thing" not "thang". All that being said, it's a happy song that makes me wanna dance so thanks for mentioning it. & u gotta admit, Jeff sure shakes his groove thing.

Hey did Umberto (aka Jeff) ever do this song w/Boogie Knights? He did everything else :-) While we're dancing, shake ur groove THANG to this:

looks like a free hosting site or something cuz of the advertisements.

It amazes me how Journey pays ZERO attention to their web presence...

According to them, it's "one or two geeks on the internet". Um, wake up boys....

I just went over there, signed up and posted a comment.

My sig is: Steve Augeri and Jeff Scott Soto - they helped create the Journey legend

And I actually asked why Arrival was not listed in their "favorite Journey album" poll. I wonder how long before I'm banned......
