Sony is obviously putting all their eggs into the Perry basket. A shame for Augeri. The guy came in, saved the band for a number of years and will be quickly forgotten.

Come on Sony...

Yeah - the official site was just lousy.

SONY is clearly celebrating the SP era but then again so is the vast majority of JOURNEY fans! SONY's smart - they're doing EXACTLY what JOURNEY has been doing since losing SP in 1996: pandering to the nostalgic fans - they have much more buying power.

I hope SP or his people look at the site sometime soon & realizes what this site says to the public. He wonders why there are so many rumors about him reuniting w/Journey. Much as he tries to stop it, when Sony puts up something like this, no one can blame the average person who goes searching for Journey online & finds this site. It deliberately makes it look like they're about to tour again w/Perry heading the band. W/the Journey site down, this is the only site people will find.

I don't understand why there's a picture of Jeff in the photos w/no explanation. Yet, there isn't one single picture of Augeri. Augeri was w/the band for 8 yrs, 2.5 albums. If they're going to include Jeff, they should certainly include Augeri. Otherwise, they should leave both of them out.

Yeah, you would think they might mention Perry leaving the band at that point. I mean how does the perception that he is reunited w/them help back catalog sales?

I must be a little thick. What's the big "R"...?

The bio winds down to this:
"That song [WYLAW] now becomes the one bonus track to bring GREATEST HITS full circle and up-to-date in the original band’s discography."

I think that says it all right there. They're not at all interested in the SA era NOR pre-Perry. They mention pre-Perry but I think it's more to make the point that JOURNEY was "nothing" before him and that he saved them.

It's all about Perry! I suppose that makes sense. He was the "X" factor. His voice is the identity of JOURNEY.

Kinda sad the band no longer controls its own website, it's now this Columbia thing. Wouldn't surprise me if Azoff or even Perry have some level of control over it. I read elsewhere that the band had no say over the recent batch of reissues, and that it was something Perry and Columbia were working on. I've also wondered earlier if the decision to fire Soto may have come from somewhere within Columbia itself. The record company may once again be telling Journey to put Steve back in the band, similar to the situation in 1995.

Who and what they are now and where they will be is impossible to even venture a guess. Buena suerte to Journey and their management. They remind me of a DefLepard video with the circus.

Oh, please. What a bunch of bullshit.

Sony didn't "roll the dice" with Arrival. They rolled the dice on TBF and ended up spending a lot money to hype up a band that basicaly broke up before the album was even released. Sony INVESTED in Journey for TBF and it didn't pay off. NO band promotion, NO tour, NO appearences. Journey vanished after the initial release...despite Sony remastering the catalog, releasing a CD single, releasing a video, releasing multiple promotional singles to radio.

They invested NOTHING in Arrival. JOURNEY invested their time and got little to nothing from Sony.

I'll venture a guess as to what the next couple years will bring. I'll guess they are trying to make a deal with Perry to record...and another deal with "somebody else" to tour...because Perry can't, and won't, tour. If something like this doesn't happen, the band will simply fade away as they tour with a Perry impersonator.

I believe Journey wanted out as badly as SONY did....

EXACTLY. Journey (Perry) screwed Sony with TBF...and Sony screwed Journey with Arrival.

Good points Monker.

Seconded.
The band need look no further than what "they (   )" did to Sony by renegging on a committment to tour Trial By Fire as a major reason why they got merely Arrival released but no pub.
