Well, there are these things called ARTICLES and DOCUMENTARIES and ARCHIVES. You don't have to have been actually standing there to know something happened, do you? And are you saying that Journey weren't on the radio in 1981?
Read my post above. Journey got SERIOUS airplay in 1980. That was a year before Friga joined, btw.
Where have I denied that Journey enjoyed success before Jonathan Cain joined? Of course they did. In 1980 they had one single that did reasonably well, an album that shifted 3 million copies and a successful arena tour. I am aware of this, Susie.
Let's get real here. The appeal was Perry's amazing fucking voice. Plenty of bands had memorable keyboard riffs but it's the voice that matters. Stop w/this lovefest of Friga, please. Ur embarassing urself.
What lovefest? I'm just saying the guy wrote a riff that helped to make that song a timeless classic. What IS your problem?
Bullshit. If people know the name of ANY member, it's Perry. Once again, b/c of THE VOICE.
Wow...I'm on the receiving end of a Loon meltdown! Who would have thought it?
That's not what he said AT ALL. There u go AGAIN twisting words to suit ur purpose. Come on Matty, surely u can make a point w/out resorting to that? What he said & it's true is that Cain had that "look" popular in the 80s, clean cut All American boy look. The other guys in the band didnt have that look.
Er...and that look had no impact on the band's popularity? Why mention it then? (By the way...read Fyre's post...he DID say that.)
I always preferred Rolie on keys. I've NEVER said anything different. I said that BEFORE, DURING & AFTER Jeff was in the band. So what's ur point now? Oh yeah, I'm not a serious Journey fan I guess. Yet u hate the albums prior to ESC4P3 & think ROR is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Sheesh. Why do I bother?

I'm curious. Exactly WHEN did u become a Journey fan?
May 1986. When Tommy Vance played Be Good To Yourself on the Friday Rock Show I saw the light....
