I agree. He's a very nice man too. It's good to him doing what he does best.

Ooh I don't know. Did u see his AI performance? He was a shadow of his former self.

Missed it. Saw him a few years ago and he was still good. Does he still have the hair?

He's got that but it's all grey. He looks pretty good really. Here, it's on YouTube (what isn't?):

Tell me what u think.

Vocals are not too impressive. I retract the above. The hair looks good, though the beard appears to have been touched up with Just for Men.

This topic is good. I wonder if someone will open its counterpart: SINGERS THAT CANNOT CUT IT ANYMORE. I have a lot to add to that list.

I'd say, James LaBrie (Dream Theater) refound his early high notes this last year.
Sting is another singer who can still cut it, with his highs and lows, but he can still sing Roxanne. He cannot hit his early peaks but he's almost there
Geddy Lee lost most of his pitch in the 80s, but these days he's singing like in the 80s
John Wetton has a great voice still these days.
Glenn Hughes , this man is the best singer out there, he's singing for 30 years, I cannot match him to anyone else.

Hey Deano,I'm too lazy to quote you,but regarding Steven Tyler - give up.The guy is sure back in the saddle.

Interesting thread...

Agree with Marty re Phil Mogg - if anything he's better than he was in the 70s as from memory he was probably the worst singer I saw during that period and he's much better now.
Others that have impressed recently:

Ted Poley
Mike Metjavic
Tony Harnell
Dave Readmen
JSS
Myles Kennady
Mike Tramp (never one of the greatest singers but still sounds as good as ever)

Others that were less then impressive
Dave Coverdale - still sounds great in the lower registers but lost a lot of his power
Joe Elliot - never been that impressed with his voice and even less so the 2 times I saw them him in 06
Geoff Tate - always thought he had an unusual voice and could scream but never was a singer - now he can't even scream properly
' hey honey you look hot tonite.... can you feel the itch from a man in tights'
Wig Wam - Rock my ride

He sounds a little rougher than he did in the 70s, surprise, surprise. But he still sounds very good to me, especially for a guy his age who had vocal problems. Yeah he's back in the saddle.

I think he still sounds really good on the lower stuff but his high-pitched falsetto has worn with age. I've also noticed on a lot of the newer videos I've seen that he seems to quit singing and turn the mic towards the crowd a lot, almost as if he knows his voice may give out.

Steve Augeri can sing. I've been in the studio enough to know that if you don't have something to work with all the computer magic in the world ain't gonna help you.

Why is some people who are pissed try to force opinions on others about others and expect them to be believed with no questions asked?

And why Deano are you so rude to everyone?

(and yes I'm new here and am not one of the BT people, I did read it once or twice, but couldn't hack it)

You've got your opinions and you're are entitled, but you seem to get really mad because some people like Augeri or Steve Perry. Am I missing something?

That was the old trick they used to say on the road back in the day. If ur throat hurts, let the fans sing it. Man that sucks. David is getting up there in years tho. I still love him anyway. :-)

ANN fuckin' WILSON can still cut it and has her first ever solo album coming out on September 11 called Hope and Glory.

She's got a reworked version of Immigrant Song that will blow your head off.

One vocalist you would probably not expect to see in this category - Ian Hunter. He's over 60 now and sounds a little rough, but then again 40 years ago he sounded like he had a mouth full of gravel, so I guess you could say he can still cut it. Ex- Mott The Hoople singer Hunter is one of the greatest songwriters the UK ever produced, and he is still touring consistently, gravel voice and all.

Had the pleasure of seeing Ian and Mick Ronson (shortly before his death) at a club gig back in the late 80's (with, of all things, the BULLET BOYS opening up!) and the show was amazing. I've always thought Hunter was an underrated genius.

Hey Marc,I wanted to ask you about your CD!How was the release, the reactions so far?Happened in May,right? if my memory serves me...

Is it available on Amazon yet?

Hi Laura,
Its going pretty well so far, sales have been good for us in the UK as we are distributed through Universal. Kerrang, Classic Rock Magazine and Fireworks have given us glowing reviews along with some of the rock sites. Andrew has trhe album soundbytes in the 'minibytes' section and he's promised a review any day now!

We played at the Rock and Blues at the weekend (www.rockandblues.uk.com) which The Scorpions headlined - that was a blast, believe me, 30,000 people over the weekend!

I know its on amazon uk and itunes uk but not sure when it will roll out Stateside, just depends on the distributor - will let you know...it will be going out to mainland Europe very soon.

some reviews....

Maybe not like in the 80s/90s,but he did a great job on his latest album. Not sure about his live delivery, anyone seen him recently?

All in all,his voice aged nicely.

Yeah, I like Waite too, he might not have the best range but his diction or rather the way he can sing behind the beat, almost croon a la sinatra is one of his best features. His performance on Bad English's first album remains one of my faves, whether he can still do it....

Ah, I told my husband in 1978 that the only man I'd ever leave him for was Barry Gibb. :D I thought his AI performance was fine. I'm not sure how much he has performed since Maurice died. I know Robin has put out a solo album (I have it ) and toured in Europe.

I'm just a flat-out-no-apologies-melt-on-sight fan of Barry Gibb and I think Robin Gibb is one of THE most fantastic singers EVER. Now THERE is a guy who sounds exactly like he did 30 years ago.

Oopps, getting on a Bee Gees rant! :D :D :D
