Funny,I was talking to someone today about how this JSS/Journey situation went down...Jeff's firing was too fast,to unexpected and made NO sense.
My feeling was that Journey had a fat deal on the table,so logically,no band refuses something like that.Unless...there's another deal,better than the first.
Maybe some big shot label exec/manager/producer/God ( ) wants to see the golden line-up once again.
The only thing that would explain this 180 that the band have made on JSS,would be a more tempting proposition.

Also,why take the year off?Gearing up for something?Looking for a new singer?But they already had one!

Sure,all the above are just suppositions,and frankly,as much as I would love to see a reunion happening,the chances are nonexistant.

The only indication we've had so far about the size of the offer was that it was bigger than the Frontiers deal for Generations. But as you say the Frontiers deal didn't include America....so it wouldn't take much to improve on the terms offfered by Frontiers, would it?

Look Susie...I was actually a big fan of the JSS line-up live in concert - and I think they've treated him very shabbily by all accounts. But I've been unhappy with Cain and Schon's decisions since 1998. But none of this negates the achievements and enduring brilliance of classic Journey, does it? So no-one is kissing their ass. Some of us are just responding to the hysteria and to the absurd rewriting of history that's been going on recently - mainly by you.

Well, Andrew also said the best option for Journey was to do what REO Speedwagon did which was self-finance the recording and packaging of the album and do a deal with Wal-Mart to sell it. In other words...that the band themselves had to lay down the initial investment. My point is that after the sting of losing £300,000 maybe Schon felt unhappy with the idea of just signing a distribution deal for the new Journey record and picking up the tab for the rest?

You can keep saying that the economics don't matter and that they are none of your business or whatever. But my guess is that JSS was let go primarily because Schon and Cain felt it wasn't lucrative enough to record new music with him. That it would in fact end up costing THEM money.

I was expecting new music. I didn't expect them to get signed w/a label tho.
