One of the worst songs ever. Must have taken about 5 minutes to write.

It's ok, SJ. I am sure you would call some of the music I like crap, too.

Horrible. Didn't VH1 air a show sometime back that voted this song the worst hair-metal tune ever? Have to agree with them.
It's crap.

Another one of Herbie's successful adventures...the song is OK..but I always thought there was too much synth...made the song kind of fluffy.

The very name of the band told me it would be shit before listening. "Europe?" Talk about shooting yourself in the head?

I've always had a soft spot for those guys. Out Of This World is one of the best pop metal albums of all time.

You should know what Pop Metal is ;) Bryan Adams is a good example of pop metal  8)
I dont know why anyone would mentioned Europe as pop metal
They have many heavier and harder songs than Journey.
The final countdown, as catchy as it is, shouldve been a bit heavier to represent what Europe actually sounds like.It IS one
of their cheesiest songs, yet one of the most classical solos of all time ...
The band has great musicians, with some really amazing songs.
Dean, if you would stop being so blind about it and give them a fair chance you would actually like them.
Specially since you say you didnt wanna listen to the band cause of their name.
What kind of excitement did you feel when you first heard a band with the name Journey!?

Right after The Final Countdown, John Norum left Europe for a heavier sound . His 1st album "Total Control" had this one
song "Love Is Meant" that was written on the same chords as The Final COuntdown, only with more guitars instead of synth.

I can see the keyboard riff getting on your nerves but it's a decent song and the guys in the band were/are good musicians despite the simplicity of the song.

Shut up already. BA is a singer/songwriter rocker.

Dean, if you would stop being so blind about it and give them a fair chance you would actually like them.

No I wouldn't like em. They are pure liquid shit, The Final Countdown, with that repetitive cheesy key riff...Dude spare me.
PS- I was being sarcastic with the name thing.

What kind of excitement did you feel when you first heard a band with the name Journey!?

Dude what did I think of when I first heard Journey? I thought, when the fuck did God decide to sing vocals on a rock band? Then I heard the melodies and melodic guitar playing and I was hooked.

Holy cow - this is what a local radio station played if they had to fill airtime between shows! I am so serious!

For a minute I thought that this was a parody of Spinal Tap....

LOL Deano! I did the same thing. I heard Steve Perry many years before I ever actually saw what he looked like. When I did, I thought - oh my god, THAT voice comes out of THAT scuzzy guy! I swear that was my first thought. Heresy, I know, and I only admit it to a rare few so everybody keep it under your hats....

Europe's last record was fantastic. "Always the Pretenders" was one of the five best songs to be released in 2006. I'm looking forward to their next one.

I'll give BA one thing, he'd never look as stupid as those pricks did in that corny shite video....great, they've moved on and got heavier, seems like they didn't have a credible plan so they just went with what they thought the fans wanted......second rate pretenders to the real rock bands. Europe.....two a penny. Massive yawn

BA's shit but he ain't that shit

They didnt move on and became heavier,,, they were heavier, much heavier and better before The Final Countdown.
I wish that song never existed, cause it gave people the wrong picture of the band....
Their first 2 albums "Europe" and "Wings of tomorrow" are amongst the best rock albums of early 80s.

you said shit ,BA and shit in the same sentence. :) thats worth than $.02
